Josh King (Dismissed from Sparty)

I would agree...what will be interesting is who exactly they take and who they have to pass on. Can't take all of the kids they currently lead for. King seems like a take to me. Robertson may also be a take as well. You already have Cooper and Hall on board (although you'll have to recruit Hall until the bitter end) and there is Nick Bosa of course. And that's not even including Prince Sammons who I see as a future DT or OT. I don't see them taking five DEs in this class with DT being such a need. Do they have room for King knowing that they probably lead for Robertson? Do they pass on Robertson to take King? It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out but like @MaxBuck said there is room for plenty of optimism for this position group moving forward.

Coveted 4-Star Defensive End Josh King Visiting Ohio State Monday

Monday will not be Joshua King's first visit to Columbus.

COLUMBUS — It was a full and productive weekend of visits for Ohio State, and that productivity will also stretch into Monday as Urban Meyer welcomes Darien, Illinois defensive end Josh King to campus.

After seeing his frame better there, I would say he is definitely 6'6 but he might be 230 lbs. at most. I think eventually you could put enough on the frame to move him inside, but it is going to take a little while imo. So I could see him taking a RS year, starting off at SDE (I know there is no technical distinction but that's what he is right now), and then slide him inside after 2-3 years Coach Mick time. But King is such a talent that we will just want him in the class and we can figure that out later.

Noah Spence was shorter (6'4") and heavier (245 lbs) but stayed at DE at Ohio State and did pretty darned well. At 6'6", King could easily get up to 255-260 at still be an explosive DE...

Not disagreeing with you there, but with Cooper, Hall, possibly Bosa and another DE, we could afford to put King at DT. He could also easily play as a senior at 255-260, redshirt and put on another 30+lbs and play DT. Either scenario is good, just get him in

I'd personally bulk him up and put him inside. DE isn't a position were going to be short on after this class. We may be even be turning down some top ranked kids.

That build won't put on enough weight to help him succeed in the middle. However, the length of his arms and his explosive tendencies on the edge would be a weapon....this kid is closer to being a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 DT....
