Terry Beckner Jr. (Missouri DE)

What RB said.

His best chance at early playing time is going to be at the DE position opposite of Bosa, where we just graduated the starter and his back-up (Steve Miller and Rashad Frazier). Unlikely to start due to guys in the pipeline (unless he's the next Bosa), but between need and talent, there's little doubt he would get playing time on the line his first year.

Keep in mind bosa is more of a sde. We have Tyquan Lewis, Darius Slade, Jalyn Holmes, and sounds like Sam Hubbard coming down the pipe. When I think of opportunity, I think it's at DT where I think he fits better. And he's still going to have to beat out Schutt, Washington, Hill, Munger, and potentially Marcelys Jones. I think the hardest place for freshman to make an immediate impact is across the line. The change in these kids bodies after 2 years with coach Mick is insane, and it is extremely rare for freshman lineman to be "college ready". Not saying he can't or won't, it's just not real likely with an established program.

First, congrats on the Championship. Was a fun game to watch and extremely happy to see a St. Louis kid make such a big splash. Obviously would have liked to have seen him in the black and gold but regardless, it's always fun to watch these kids excel.

As for Beckner, 99.99% certain that twitter account is bogus. That was confirmed with people (I assume his coach, I didn't ask who) that would know.

His coach has done a lot of talking for him over the course of time and I did listen to the coaches interview on the radio today where he did say Mizzou was the front runner at this point. But remember, it was an interview with a STL media member and while Cusumano isn't necessarily a Mizzou homer (more of a SLU guy), he also didn't exactly grill the guy. Beckner himself has talked so little, though I'd pass along this actual video interview that Cusumano did with Beckner himself. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/mizzou-is-definitely-the-front-runner-to-land-espns-top-recruit

The thing I did not know until this interview is that his line coach at ESL is form Missouri All American John Clay. I'm sure that helps our cause. Conversely, he had 20-30 family member go to All Star game so they'll travel wherever he goes.

A couple considerations to think about: First, will he play DT or DE? I see Beckner as a DT eventually and maybe from the get-go. If so, I think he stands a chance to rotate in heavily...that is what Bosa did his freshman year and eventually became the starter. Schutt and Washington will be the starters initially but if Beckner is as good as advertised, I could see him pushing Schutt. Only issue there is that Beckner is a definite 3-tech and Schutt is a 1-tech...he is not beating out Washington, so that might limit his reps and have him coming in more on passing situations. Now behind those two, I think he has every chance to beat out Hill and/or Munger to be the first guy in to rotate...I still thin both those guys are going to be very good players (Hill particularly) but they would have to step their game up.

Now if he plays DE, he could conceivably win the spot across from Bosa but I suspect Jalyn Holmes is going to put that spot on lockdown...extremely talented player and his body is college ready now. Plus he is a balanced DE that is a great pass rusher and can play the run strong. But again, you could see Beckner rotate in a lot and be the first guy in at DE...LJ Sr. loves to have a rotation. Tyquan Lewis should be ready to contribute, Hubbard could very well win the spot and has looked great recently, and Dylan Thompson will be healthy off a redshirt and I really like him. So in sum, I don't think he would start immediately but I suspect he would rotate in some on the DL if he lives up to his billing.

Thanks for the outlook there. Haven't read much into him or seen film to be able to analyze that as well.

the question is if its bogus, why do Meyer and Larry Johnson Sr follow? you would have to think that would come up n a conversation at some point.

I haven't been the one to ask or confirm, so take anything I say with a grain of salt. All I can tell you is that earlier, when that account tweeted MIZ, Missouri fans went crazy. Our reporters then contacted those who would know (I've been told his coaches but can't even confirm that because I didn't make the call) and confirmed it was bogus. It bummed out a lot of us Mizzou fans at the time as this all came about well before the NC game. After the recent tweets, they went back to again confirm that it is not, in fact, TBJ. Again, take it for what it's worth. You make a good point about the followers. Even some Mizzou coaches and players are following that account.

Personally, I find it very suspect. The guy seems very quiet and humble and in that interview doesn't seem to like the attention that comes with the recruiting. He has been so quiet for so long, I find it very suspect that he would all of a sudden be tweeting MIZ and then later tweeting that tOSU is his leader. Just completely out of character.

But again, i dont think Meyer and LJsr would knowingly follow a fake twitter, and i dont think they would't ask him about it either. Could be fake, could not. but no way to tell either way

For whatever it's worth, that twitter account has been suspended. I suspect it's because someone was impersonating TBJ but then again, I know nothing about Twitter nor why an account would be suspended.

I think he enjoyed Auburn but according to his high school coach, other than Mizzou and tOSU, it is actually FSU that is pushing the hardest.

Sounds like he is having a good time and hitting it off with Jashon Cornell who has been at OSU a few weeks now. Not sure if it will be enough to overcome the home-state team but I definitely hope so. DT is probably the weakest position on the depth chart going forward beyond 2015 so he is a really key recruit.
