Back in February, Ohio State extended a scholarship offer to 4-star Indianapolis Cathedral LB Pete Werner. The country’s 17th-ranked outside linebacker, Werner planned to visit Ohio State for its spring game, but after committing to Notre Dame on March 21 he canceled.

On Saturday, though, the 6-2, 215-pound prospect did visit Ohio State. Is he seriously considering a flip? Is he a “take” for the Buckeyes right now? Both of those questions are up in the air, but the uncertainty in South Bend is certainly playing a part in his decision to look around.

The coach that was primarily responsible for recruiting him at Notre Dame, Brian VanGorder, was terminated in September and uncertainty now swirls around head coach Brian Kelly.

Werner is a very good prospect and I don’t think the interest from Ohio State is entirely related to Browning. (Though if Browning ended up elsewhere, Werner would help absorb some of that loss if he were to re-open his recruitment.) Cathedral is one of Indiana’s best football programs and the alma mater of current Buckeyes WR Terry McLaurin.
