Indians Tidbits (2010 season)

Maybe 2 down
PD
MINNEAPOLIS ? Aaron Laffey's left shoulder is in line for an MRI scan Thursday. The news is better for prospect Carlos Carrasco.

The Indians are trying to find out if Laffey is merely going through a "tired arm" period or if something is wrong with his left shoulder. Laffey's velocity has dropped in his past two starts after joining the Indians on June 25 from Class AAA Columbus.

Carrasco, pitching for Columbus, left Tuesday's game against Durham in the fourth inning with pain in his right forearm. The Indians wanted an extended look at Carrasco in the second half, but this could change their plans.

It will be interesting to see who they bring up from Columbus for the start against the Yankees on Tuesday since Laffey has been put on the DL. I would like to see Gomez get another chance but he pitched last night so if they would need him to start on Tuesday he would be able to do it. I guess I probably will bring up Huff unless there's another hidden gem in Columbus or Akron.

Speaking of decent players, Hafner is really looking very poorly:tongue2: and I think the team would not be too bad next year if he would start hitting like he was doing two years ago but it doesn't look good for that to happen.

I don't want them getting rid of Carmona because if they could find a starter who could win 15-20 games next season and if they could find a solid hitting second baseman they might be able to contend, notice I use the word contend, for the Central Division. Much of that depends also on how Grady comes back from his surgery.

Stick a fork in him, he's done. No juice = no Pronk.

Josh Tomlin to start Tuesday for Indians vs. Yankees' CC Sabathia | cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Right-hander Josh Tomlin will be promoted from Class AAA Columbus to start Tuesday against the Yankees, Indians manager Manny Acta announced after Sunday's game.

The Indians have an opening in the rotation after lefty Aaron Laffey was placed on the disabled list last Friday because of shoulder fatigue.

Tomlin and Carlos Carrasco were the leading in-house candidates. Both are in the Clippers' rotation.

"Tomlin deserves to be up here to get a shot,'' Acta said. "He's earned it.''

Tomlin, 25, a 19th-round pick by Cleveland in 2006, needs to be added to the 40-man roster. Acta did not say who will be dropped to make room.

Tomlin is 8-4 with a 2.68 ERA in 20 appearances, including 17 starts. He has allowed 83 hits in 107 1/3 innings, walked 33 and struck out 80.

Choo just had a ridiculous play off the wall.. the ball bounced off the top of the wall and Choo bare-handed it and launched it to second all in one motion. Granderson was actually safe, but the Indians got the call anyways.

There was another call earlier that looked like it might have been a hit by Rodriguez.. it bounced before Crowe caught it, but it was hard to tell if it bounced after inside his glove or right before.

OT tigers game Upton got thrown out at 2nd by 4 feet easy, called safe. Leyland tossed, replay it was 6 or 7 feet. OTT

I Just want these fuck nuts to get it right either way

clockwork. 4-4 yesterday and a dinger tonight. incredible.
All with men on base. Would like to see him get some hits with a guy on base one of these days. How much longer does he have left on his contract because I would rather see one of the younger guys playing.

That was one of the stranger plays I have seen in a while. I don't even know if Crowe knows if he caught the ball or not.
