Baby Huey dealt to Detroit for LHP Giovanni Soto. Win-win! Tribe gets rid of worthless rubbish and the Tigers are instantly shittier with this turd on their team! :groove2:

not only that, cleveland got an actual prospect in the deal that may have a chance at panning out, instead of just some filler in order for detroit to take his contract off cleveland's hands.

$7 million waste.

Indians Prospect Insider: Peralta Traded To Tigers

Soto, 19, has spent the entire season to date with Class A West Michigan, going 6-6 with a 2.61ERA in 16 starts (82.2IP, 75H, 29R/24ER, 25BB, 76K). In each of his 16 starts this season, he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs. His best start of the season came on June 16 against the Lake County Captains when he pitched a nine-inning, complete game shutout (3H, BB, 7K), his second complete game shutout of the year. The Midwest League mid-season all-star is currently tied for first in the Midwest League with two complete games and ranks second with a 2.61ERA.

Giovanni, a 6-4" left-hander, owns a career minor league record of 10-6 with a 2.10ERA and one save in 29 games/22 starts (128.1IP, 108H, 36R/30ER, 45BB, 113K) over two seasons after being selected by the Tigers in the 21st round of the 2009 June draft. The Carolina, Puerto Rico native was tabbed the Tigers Gulf Coast League Pitcher of the Year in 2009 leading the league in ERA (1.18) going 4-0 in 13 games/6 starts (45.2IP, 33H, 7R/6ER, 20BB, 37K).

Might be premature to say that Tiggers actually took Jhonny's contract off Tribe's hands....deal included cash from Cleveland to Detroit. Looks like this might be pretty similar to the Dodgers deal for Blake/Santana?

I guess this means Andy [censored]ing Marte is our every day 3B now.... :slappy:

Luis Valbuena and his .166 average called back up from AAA as well
Shapiro was interviewed during the game last night and mentioned that Nix along with the two guys that you mentioned will get some playing time at 3rd base. He likes Nix's pop and I can't believe that he made this statement he likes Marte's for his defense:confused: He also mentioned Goebel but I have to believe that will be a September call up.

looks like the bullpen is up to their old tricks

tonight

Tony Sipp 1.1 IP 2 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB

Joe Smith 0.1 IP 3 H 4 R 4 ER 2 BB

Jess Todd 1.0 IP 4 H 2 R 2 ER 1 BB

........... it got so bad [censored]ing Any Marte had to pitch a inning

he went 1.0 0 H 0 BB and a K

maybe Marte should be converted into a reliever :slappy:

it's the walks that kill this pen. when these guys throw strikes, their stuff is good enough to get guys out. but for some reason, each of them goes through stretches where they couldn't hit the clap if they fell into paris hilton's crotch. when they all do it at the same time, shit gets ugly.

it also seems to me that the bullpen as of late has done better when the starting pitching has been good. maybe it's just perceptive error on my part, but that seems to be the case.
