JabriLLL "Ghost" Peppers (New England Patriots)

I believe Peppers has said that he wants to play for a team that will win the NC. I believe the bloom will be off that rose for Michigan after this year.

But coaches are supposed to be salesman and sell a recruit a dream of a NC. Hoke can unfortunately still do that. It worked with their recent o line commits and derrick green to name a few

From what I read, he wasn't overly impressed with his OSU visit and not offering JBB might be a factor.

I don't want the staff to get into the habit of so-called "package deals." Not saying that is what Michigan is offering, but we're in on so many offensive linemen already this year that we can't really afford to do that. Michigan, on the other hand, had a great haul last year and probably could use JBB for depth.

In addition, though Peppers may be better than any DB we're currently in on or may be even any DB currently on our roster, it is not a position of need.

Even though i agree that CB is not a position of need, in order to win NCs, we need to get top flight talent when available and when we have a realistic chance at securing the recruit. There are many examples of a team not needing a certain player at a certain position, but stilo getting that player and having huge success. Tyren jones to alabama, marshall to UGA, Trent richardson, willis mcgahee to miami, etc
You don't keep going after a player as good as peppers because of just numbers. Hes that good in this class. And good cbs (with lockdown ability) are coveted in college and the nfl. He still should be one of our top priorities. There's a long time until signing day. I just keep thinking about getting vonn bell and thinking that anything is possible with this coaching staff

Another point to make here is that Peppers is also outstanding on the offensive side of the ball (5 star talent in my eyes there as well). I could legitimately see him playing any of corner, safety, star, or receiver here, in addition to kick/punt return. I think he is best suited as a shutdown, physical corner in the mold of Patrick Petersen but he really could end up anywhere.
