Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Never understood the bitching on these boards about alternate uniforms. If it makes the game more memorable and enjoyable for the players I'm all for it. Football is a game, a sport. It's for fun and enjoyment.

Not to mention the Bucks are 3-0 while wearing alternates.
When I think back on those past games, I don't remember the jerseys we wore. I remember the big plays and the score.

A Buckeye image/memory that I cherish is Ohio State helmets completely filled with Buckeye leaves.

Alternate unis, especially when worn at the end of the year, take that away and that is what I like least about them.

TP looks positively slow compared to Braxton lol.

That's strangely what made Pryor so effective. He was 6'6, so his incredibly long stride made his sprint look like a morning jog. Imagine how confusing that would look to you as a defender. It's incredibly hard to pursue that.

I'm okay with alternate uniforms, occasionally, so long as they resemble the school's colors. The crap Oregon does with a different costume each week, that may or may not contain school colors, would piss me off if tOSU did it.

Despite my constant kvetching on the subject I agree in principal with both of these points.

1. No more than once a year.
2. Keep the damn things away from The Game.

With one further condition...

3. Ohio State is a high profile school and there is absolutely no reason that it should be forced to wear alternates that are little more than a slightly modified version of the generic Nike 'theme' for each season.

Also, regarding my issues with the shoulder stripes on the regular jersey. My disdain for the current stripe is primarily limited to the home jersey. It looks generic against the red background. Bring back the traditional grey stripes for home. Conversely the red/helmet/pant stripe does look a bit better against the white background, so feel free to keep it on the away uniform if you so desire.
