SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

scUM's got 9 commits for the 2015 class, ranked 55 on scout. This is surreal. It seems to me that cHoke left the program in complete disarray... so much so that the publicity of the Harbaugh hire isn't creating enough momentum. With UFM as the new hire, we filled up the 2012 class pretty quickly.

Or is it just that Harbaugh is rusty recruiting?

Let's be honest--there is no shortage of video clips that are readily available to any recruit's support staff and that suggest that Harbaugh is an unstable clown. I personally would be more surprised that he lands one recruit than that he would go 0-fer.

Honestly, I have been surprised at the lack of success that Harbaugh has had especially in flipping lower ranked recruits. Usually when an elite recruiter (Urban, Saban) at a blue blood program, turns his attention to a "Plan B" recruit late in the game, they flip a fair share of those recruits. This is especially true when there is team they are taking the player from has had a coaching change (Nebraska, Wisconsin). Yet Harbaugh has only 3-

Jones DE flipped from Nebraska (Coaching Change)

Gentry QB flipped from Texas- BUT does anyone in their right mind think Gentry flips if Charlie Strong stays true to his word and doesn't pursue another QB (Kyle Murray)

Ulizio OT from UConn- Who other best offers were MAC schools

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Harbaugh was not an elite recruiter at Stanford (Scout Rank on classes 43rd, 44th, 16th and 24th). What I was surprised to learn his only recruiting experience at the highest level of CFB was his 4 years at Stanford.

His only full-time experience as an assistant football coach was with the Oakland Raider. He was a "certified', non paid assistant on his Dad's staff at WKU. But that was while he was a QB in the NFL and WKU is hardly a CFB blue blood.

The USD (Head Coach prior to Stanford) does not offer scholarships to football players, which eliminates direct comparisons to Jim Tressel (Tress had extensive D1 assistant coaching experience anyway). That leaves Stanford. As mentioned the athletes that go to Stanford are so different that it almost has no correlation on what would be necessary to be an elite recruiter.

So to answer ant's question, maybe Harbaugh is not rusty, maybe he has no idea of what he is doing.

Not sure when Hoke was hired but scUM taking a leap of faith and not hiring a coach until the very end of December didn't really give the Dick with Ears a lot of time to establish any kind of relationships with potential targets. With that said it likely would not have made any difference because the man is a certifiable lunatic.

Saw the comment on here but too lazy to look it up...guys been away from high school recruiting the past 8 years.

Sounds like he had minimal if any recruiting experience to begin with. This is going to get interesting methinks.

Not sure it's been 8 years, but I've mentioned before that he's been away from evaluating high school football players long enough that he doesn't know who to target right now. Making matters worse for him, when he was in a position to have evaluated HS talent, it was in a completely different region of the country at a school that takes only a certain sort of athlete. In other words, not only was his list of potential recruits smaller, those recruits on his list were already ... what... predisposed, I guess is the word, to go to Stanford anyway.

And.... He's got an assistant who gets kicked out of houses and another who writes goofy letters to kids.... so... lolz

So evidently mgoblog posted that some 3* RB committed to Michigan. Problem is that said RB tweeted he hadn't committed, and Sam Webb is now saying the RB's recruitment doesn't include Michigan. Holy [censored]--compared to what Harbaugh has going on up there, the Bozo the Clown Show looks like a well-oiled machine.
