Two Longhorns Suspended After Sexual Assault Allegations

Sources tell 247 Sports that the players are Case McCoy and Jordan Hicks

Two Texas football players have been suspended on the eve of tomorrow's Alamo Bowl because of charges of sexual assault, Coach Mack Brown confirmed today. No player's names were given because charges have not been filed in the investigation, but various reports have named Case McCoy and Jordan Hicks as those sent home.
Neither player was expected to play against the Oregon State Beavers ? McCoy is a backup quarterback and linebacker Hicks has been injured almost all year ? but the news is stunning if it is true. McCoy often quotes scripture on Twitter and Hicks is also portrayed as a choirboy.
According to the police report, the alleged victim, a 21-year-old Texas Tech student, told San Antonio police that one of the players entered her sexually while the other watched.
The alleged assault happened at about 2:40am today at the Riverwalk Holiday Inn. The alleged victim reportedly told police that she met the two players at a club last night and invited them to her hotel room.
According to the police report, the alleged victim "had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and was crying alongside her friend." The alleged victim told police, "I feel ashamed saying this, but I know [REDACTED] was in me. [REDACTED] just stood there and watched. I don't quite remember." The reporting officer noted that he observed bruising on the victim's right knee and left bicep. The alleged victim and both suspects were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluations.
In a press conference this morning, Coach Mack Brown said both accused unnamed players have been suspended "for breaking team rules."
A junior, McCoy's backup at backup is freshman Connor Brewer. Hicks is expected to apply for a medical redshirt after the season to repeat his junior season

Can someone split this off in to it's own thread, not that there necessarily needs to be a "what constitutes rape?" thread on here, but this discussion has turned definitely, into the horseshoes and hand grenades area.

Done.

I just moved everything after the initial news article was posted. I'm not re-reading or sorting thru all of that shit.

If you want to discuss Mr. Hicks or news about the investigation, do it here.

If you want to make assumptions about the case, bro-down, defend somebody's honor, take the puritanical view, debate what constitutes rape, debate the merits or trolling for skanks or the merits of being one yourself, try to emasculate other members of this site, brag about your conquests from twenty years ago, or bring up any other tangents that don't belong in the football forums, please do it here:

Jordan Hicks' attorney denies sexual assault allegation

Perry Minton, the attorney representing one of two University of Texas players suspended from Saturday's Alamo Bowl, said Saturday night that allegations are untrue that Jordan Hicks was involved in a sexual assault early Friday morning. "I have spent about an hour-and-a-half speaking with Jordan Hicks, and I can say based on that discussion I am very confident that everything that happened from the first drink at the bar to the time everyone said goodnight was entirely consensual and above board," Minton said. "Nothing that was done by him or Mr. McCoy was against the law. Period." Both Hicks, a junior linebacker, and Case McCoy, a junior backup quarterback, were suspended Friday for violating team rules. This came a few hours after news reports surfaced that San Antonio police were investigating an alleged sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman early Friday morning in a downtown hotel room.

Texas LB Jordan Hicks out for year with torn Achilles tendon

Jordan Hicks has suffered a season-ending injury for the second time in two years. (USATSI)

Greg Robinson's tough task just got much, much tougher, with his much-maligned Longhorn defense losing its leading tackler -- and arguably best player -- for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Texas announced on its official football Twitter feed Sunday that junior weakside linebacker Jordan Hicks ruptured his Achilles tendon vs. Kansas State Saturday, and is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery. Hicks was carted off the field during the third quarter of the Longhorns' 31-21 victory.

Hicks currently leads the Longhorns with 35 tackles. Junior Kendall Thompson is listed as his backup on the most recent Texas depth chart, though junior Steve Edmond could also take over Hicks' weakside slot.

This is the second consecutive year that Hicks has suffered a season-ending injury early in the season. Hicks missed the final 10 games of 2012 after suffering a hip injury. He was granted a medical redshirt and still had two years of eligiblity remaining entering 2013.

Yeah, with his smarts, I would definitely hire this guy as my agent :

The eligibility of two Texas linebackers could be in jeopardy after they reportedly accepted meals from an agent.
The Austin American-Statesman reported Monday that Texas reported the incident to the NCAA on June 6, but did not identify the players. On Tuesday, Orangebloods.com (part of the Rivals.com network) reported that the two players were linebackers Jordan Hicks and Steve Edmond.
According to Orangebloods, agent Justin Bingman of St. Louis-based One Sports Group tweeted March 24 about having dinner with Edmond and Hicks. The tweets have since been deleted, but as we all know, nothing is every really gone on the Internet.
