KS TE Josh Moore (Missouri signee)

Let me be a little more explicit. I think it's inappropriate for a website like 11W to speculate on the academic status of a high school student (or really to report on it at all). I've lost a lot of respect for them based on this.
I grew up in a small Ohio town. My dad always said that if you farted on one side of town they knew it on the other side of town in 10 minutes. Today with social media it doesn't take 10 minutes for the other side of the world to know what happened. I am not saying that it makes it right, I am just saying that it is the reality of today.

IMO, if the student doesn't want this getting out there - maybe he should get better grades?

note: This is not directed at Mr. Moore in any way, just a general statement.

I don't really have an opinion on them reporting what they did. But, from my experiences reading their content, I highly doubt it's speculation. The person who reported it gets his info from someone on the recruiting staff and gets clearance to post certain things. Doesn't seem to be a problem to them.

This is just the nature of the beast that recruiting has come to. Too many fans see this decommit and want to know right now why would a kid ever drop their school for another school. The rumblings get posted to message boards, passed up the chain to those who have the means to find out more information than most others and eventually the answers (or maybe the better word here would be best guesses) come back to those who are asking the loudest. Now those folks need to make sure everyone knows that it was not in fact the athlete that dropped the school but the other way around. In the long run it really does not matter but there are way too many insecure fans that feel the need to justify everything.

I tend to be more along the lines of I don't care who is committed to anyone. Until their LOI is signed and faxed those committments don't mean anything. Then again I am also the type of fan that does not feel the need to justify anything the team or school does. I think there are entirely too many fans that feel they are entitled to every bit of information dealing with their team and when they don't get it they are offended. That is what has led to the issues mentioned above in recruiting.

To clarify a bit, I agree with MaxBuck that it is generally inappropriate to speculate on issues such as grades with kids and I hesitated before repeating it. However, it was presented as though it were solid info (not speculation) and had been an issue with the staff for some time.

Still IMO something that 11W could have suppressed, but since it is out there and we are all speculating anyhow....

That said, if it had come from an lesser source or forum speculation I would have been among the first to question the poster.

In any case, Josh is clearly a stand-up kid.
Good/bad/whatever grades don't determine somebody's character. He came off as genuinely interested in Ohio State and the health of future team mates.
It's unfortunate things didn't work out, but I hope he has a great career in Kansas and will be able to stay closer to home.
