LB Brian Rolle (Official Thread)

The Badgers also are recruiting one of Henry's teammates, linebacker Brian Rolle, who was thought to be leaning heavily toward Ohio State. But Weber told Doeren last week, "It wouldn't surprise me if he picked Wisconsin, because he really liked it up there, too."

Rolle is listed at 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds, but runs the 40 in 4.4 seconds and is a dominating linebacker, as well as a pretty good fullback.

"He's the best I've ever coached," Weber said. "I've been in this 34 years. He's the best hitter. He doesn't know anything but downhill. He's a tremendous, tremendous hitter."

I have seen Rolle listed at both 202 and around 220.

Anyone know which one it is? Sorry if thats a stupid question.

In the film I saw he looked closer to 202, but it is hard to tell in the limited viddeo available. What isn't in doubt is his speed...this kid is FAST. Maybe not as much 40 time but football speed.

Madison spin or something more?

Well, according to Brian's youth pastor who posts on rivals, "don't be surprised if Brian commits (to Wisconsin) as well, just a gut feeling". He also broke the story of Aaron Henry's commit. So there's a little more to it than Madison spin. But I still would be a little surprised if he became a Badger. Not because we can't win a battle with OSU (or even Florida), but just the way he's been talking.

Hard to swallow that some of these kids could pass on OSU for inferior Big10 teams... very tough to swallow... arent we #1?

Tact is not your strong suit if you aren't being facetious. There's more than two big ten schools that could be appealing to a recruit believe it or not. The Badgers are coming off an 11-1 season. Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema is getting recruits to believe that the Badgers could win a national championship very soon (Henry and St. Jean), and I believe it as well. Not to mention that Wisconsin is a great academic school and Madison is a great city. And UW has gotten more players drafted the last 10 years or so than USC and Texas, among many other schools with much more hype.

Those upcoming games with Va. Tech will be an unusual OOC challenge for UW. I know UW isn't scared of anyone, should be fun to watch.........<sarcasm off>
