LB Conner Crowell (official thread)

Conner Crowell is torching the Oregon trail!
By Smith | 4/5/10

Settle down tree huggers, it's just a figure of speech. You can take Smokey the bear off your speed dial now.

What I mean to say is that Crowell is on a hot streak right now. He's nearly cemented his position as one of the top 20 performers on the 2010 Nike Combine circuit, all but assuring him of an invite to the SPARQ championships in Oregon during June.

"I was at the Nike camp this weekend. I didn't do as well as I wanted to but I guess I did alright. I think I'm going to the championship in Oregon this year for the top 20. My final (SPARQ) score was 115 but at the last one, actually, I had a 121," said Crowell.

This kid would look really good in our defense! I'm really hoping we get him and add even more speed to our LB corps. I know we're already deep, but it wouldn't hurt to add another kid with immense talent. It'd be sick to see him and Bell on the outside!

Conner Crowell talks Ohio State visit, timeline
By Smith | 4/26/10

Ever since he received a scholarship offer from Ohio State last month, Conner Crowell has wanted to take a return visit to Columbus. His previous visit for the contest with Southern Cal last fall had left him with a great first impression of the Buckeyes. Saturday?s annual Scarlet vs. Gray Spring Game was the perfect chance for the 6?1?, 215 pound linebacker from Waldorf (MD) North Point to get another look at the program.

Why isn't Penn State a player...lack of interest from their end or Crowell's end?

They showed some interest in him (thru his coach) during his sophomore year & they visited his school to get film this winter. They haven't followed up with him since.

I really don't understand why Conner doesn't have more offers (and any other elite offers, for that matter). This kid looks to have the makings of something really special. He's a heat-seeking missle back there. Honestly, Connor's film reminds me a lot of Jordan Hicks'... just has that knack inbetween the tackles, can make the play on the outside, fires through the gaps with great acceleration, looks good in coverage, and blows up the ball carrier on impact.

Call me crazy, but I'm drinkin' the kool aid here. I'd love to see this kid in S&G.

I'm with you...I think Crowell is a top 100 type recruit. Great athleticism, instincts, and effort. If nothing else, Crowell will play immediately on special teams.

Don't see why this kid doesn't have more offers. Nice measurables, a 4.55 electronic timed 40, and he obviously can play seeing that he was first team all state.

toot toot

But seriously, after seeing his film now too the kid is really good. He hits you, he runs like he's on fire, and his timing on the blitz is just wrong (in a good way). Right away you can tell that he can improve in his play recognition, but he'll have one of the best LB coaches in the country and the kid has just about everything else. I even see him doing well in pass coverage.

Count me in as being glad that not many others have offered. I really like this kid and the first team all state speaks for itself. Not to mention the measurables and speed.
