LB Curtis Grant (National Champion)

Doran Grant, confusing with all the last names being very similar (Brown / Brown, Grant / Grant, Spence / Spencer)

Actually it is Brown/Brown/Brown and Hall/Hall, Hill/Hill, Johnson/Johnston, Miller/Miller, Mitchell/Mitchell, Smith/Smith/Smith, Thomas/Thomas/Thompson

What gets confusing for me when watching the game is when players switch numbers in mid-season. And when 2 guys have that same number (usually one on offense and one on defense); which one is it in there on special teams?

Sometimes I find myself wondering how he is holding Kwon back from starting...
and then I remember.. this was the #1 LB in the land and #2 overall (behind only Clowney)
so suffice it to say... we undoubtedly have the best MLB core in the world

Have the season you always wanted...

I've always like Curtis. He certainly seems like a stand up guy and he has been through a lot, loosing his father, etc. He hasn't had off the field trouble that I am aware of. He has all the physical tools but it hasn't come together yet and still he has maintained a good attitude and has seemed to really focus on leadership this year on and off the field. Not a lot of guys in his position would be going out of their way to help a young, highly ranked freshman improve when the cost of doing so will cause you less PT. I respect that a lot. You can tell by the way coaches talk about Curtis that they appreciate his coachability and the way he conducts himself off the field. I'll always root for a guy like that. He is a captain. If he can steadily improve through the year and gain more confidence I think he has the capability to provide some needed leadership on the field. You don't have to be an all world player to be a great leader. It's true that his spot is responsible for lining guys up right, etc. If he can do that and have some success under the new simplified system I still think he has the potential to be an impactful player.

Regardless of what people say about Curtis' performance last year, the defense was better when he was in there. He got dinged up late in the year. When he came off the field, our defense wasn't as good. He may not be a superstar, but when healthy, he was a solid backer against the run and an above average blitzer.
