LB Darron Lee (National Champion, Super Bowl Champion, Fugitive)

There's so many stories with this team... Lee is definitely one of them, but the transformation from August to January was across the entire team. I think finding that playmaker and motivator in Lee was a big help though. Bosa is a god, but as his chosen celebration demonstrates he's very laid back. It's good to have 1 or 2 guys with Lees energy between plays. He was the x-factor play-maker on defense.

- The DE play from Frazier and Miller (pick6 against Bama was huge!)
- Eze finding his inner beast mode -- I think we all knew he'd be a good one, but he took it to another level a year early.
- The LB corps and Secondary not just turning the corner and becoming respectable, but able to carry the team at times and ending with shutting down all 3 Heisman finalists.
- The OLine gelling and going from being a liability early to a championship squad by the end
- The WR corps stepping up for both QBs. Devin and Spencer struggled to contribute with the ball in their hands at the end of 2013 and it's clear they took that personal and stepped it up. Spencer's off-the-ball play has always been Tatum-esque but it was a joy to see him contribute as a direct threat. No way Devin would've been a 2nd round pick after 2013 season. Corey, Thomas, Marshall, and Wilson all stepped up big too despite some mishaps early.
- Obviously JT and Cardale.

Looking back it almost feels like the only units that were comparable at beginning and end were the DLine outside Spence' spot, and the TEs. Everyone expected the DLine to be a strong point and they lived up to those expectations despite losing a guy. Meanwhile the TEs featured more than in years past (arguably they could feature even more... but just so many fantastic skill players)

The world may never see a team that dealt with so much adversity, started below expectations... and yet finished so utterly dominant. Seriously running roughshod over the Heisman-led favorites despite 4 turnovers !? The team that finished 2014 deserves to be mentioned with the likes of 95 Nebraska imo.

I forget the name of the website, but they have tracked every team since like 1982, and 2014 ranks second only to 1995 Nebraska, as well as being the second most improved team over the course of a season, behind, you guessed it, 2006 Florida.

Urban is good. Very, very good.

Lee had 9 tackles, 2 TFL's, a sack, and a 33-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Oh yeah, and his team won The Game by 14 points.

How does that saying go again? "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Michigan Man and his big mouth is a source of endless entertainment.

1. Ohio State
The triplets:
DE Joey Bosa, LB Darron Lee, S Vonn Bell
The skinny: Bosa, a junior who is heading into his third season as a starter, might be the best player in the nation, regardless of position. He is both athletic and powerful, and is a pass-rush force; he also holds up against the run. Lee, a sophomore, is another with a high ceiling. He runs well and packs a wallop. He and senior Joshua Perry are the best linebacker duo in the nation.

MANIMAL DEBATE: HOW OHIO STATE'S DARRON LEE STACKS UP TO FORMER BUCKEYE TERROR RYAN SHAZIER

55309_h.jpg,qitok=EOMtvJHp.pagespeed.ce.Qjyz-f2FN9.jpg

Darron Lee's recruiting story is well documented and well versed.

"You take a kid like Darron Lee — and that’s where Luke (Fickell) did such a great job recruiting him because I didn’t see it. But it’s not my job to see it, it’s his job to see it," Urban Meyer said on his call-in radio show in October. "He came to camp like three or four times. Here’s a quarterback from New Albany and it’s how do you — that’s where I give Coach Fickell a lot of credit because he did a great job, man."

Lee did play quarterback in high school for the Eagles before being listed as an athlete when he came to Ohio State as part of its 2013 recruiting class. Fickell saw something in him, though, and through some hardcore training with strength coach Mickey Marotti morphed into a horror for opposing offenses during his team's run at the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship.
