LB Darron Lee (National Champion, Super Bowl Champion, Fugitive)

Lee Helping to Build Ohio State?s 2013 Class
By Michael Chung

Going toe-to-toe with 4-star Georgia safety Vonn Bell, New Albany?s Darron Lee impressed the coaches so much during his camp visit in June that he gained an Ohio State offer and committed shortly after.

He is currently quarterbacking his high school team this season but will likely play in the defensive backfield for the Scarlet and Gray. Urban Meyer loves recruiting quarterbacks to play defensive back ? remember Joe Haden, one of his best defensive backs at University of Florida, was also a high school quarterback.

Standing 6-3 and 205 pounds, Lee will be listed as an ATH when he comes to Ohio State. He has been a leader ever since his commitment and will likely come to many OSU football games this year to help assemble the 2013 and 2014 recruiting classes.

Darron recently took time to answer questions to help Buckeye fans get to know him better. You can start by following him on Twitter @DLeeMG8.

Ozone: Is there anyone on the current Buckeye football team that you are close too?

Lee: Nathan Williams. I see him the most out of all the Buckeyes.

New Albany 32, Marion-Franklin 30
Eagles edge Red Devils to advance to state semifinal
At a glance

?Star: New Albany quarterback/defensive back Darron Lee, who had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown, threw two touchdown passes, ran for a 36-yard touchdown and made an interception in the final minute

Friday November 16, 2012

With his team?s season on the line in the final minute of the Division II, Region 7 final Nov. 16 at Gahanna, New Albany High School football coach Mark Mueller had just one thought as Marion-Franklin quarterback Corry Benson threw from near midfield.

?Darron, go catch it,? Mueller said of his quarterback and safety, Darron Lee. ?Someone, go catch it. We had three guys there. That ball didn?t get past us. But one guy jumped over everyone else.?

Lee?s interception of Benson at the New Albany 17-yard line ended the Red Devils? last-ditch comeback attempt, and the fourth-seeded Eagles escaped with a 32-30 victory for their second regional championship and 11th consecutive victory.

?We knew they needed a big play,? said Lee, an Ohio State recruit who earlier returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown and ran for a 36-yard touchdown in the second half. ?We had coverage by our corners and all our outside defenders. Luckily I was able to make a big play.?

Wish his film showed more of him on defense. But the first thing I noticed how athletic he is! Kid just looks like a football player you get at your school and could excel at few positions. I hope he stays at S, as we can use a nice S. That has good ball skills and hunts out the ball, yet can still hit in coverage. And he could also gain 10-15lbs and hopefully not lose speed and play olb. Can't wait to see lee when he gets to cbus
