September isn't over, and Ohio State football has already captured another award.

Noted humanist/Buckeye linebacker Joshua Perry was named to the All-State AFCA Good Works Team on Tuesday.

In its 24th year, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is comprised of athletes who have used their limited free time to perform inspirational acts of service. This summer, the program received an all-time record high 197 nominations from colleges and universities across the country.

The whole point of the rule is that players need to get that habit of using your helmet out of their system. It's for their own protection.

I don't think the "leather helmets or skirts" crack is on point; reducing head trauma is a concern for any good fan, I'd think.

The issue is that there will be helmet to helmet contact no matter what and yet it is penalized as if there is some intent. Williams actually tried to avoid helmet to helmet but it still happened because the ball carrier changed positions right before contact. So what lesson was learned and what future harm was actually prevented? None. Unless players are told to aim at the knees (which is equally dangerous, if not worse), it will inevitably happen.

But I really hope Josh is ok, he is the backbone of our defense imo. Absolutely need him for a championship run and I would hate to see one of the best human beings on our team miss any significant time.

Did OSU actually play LB's during the game? Seems like after Perry was hurt, they were no where to be found until the end when Williams was tossed...

Yeah, big concern for me right now. When you add in that Schutt is now out with a broken wrist, our run D is suspect at this point.
Correction: Just saw Tommy will only be out a couple games.

I thought that I heard them say that Tommy was already playing with a cast. I pray this isn't his _other_ arm...

Also, it's a bit of a suprise that there's been fairly little talk of Perry's status. Hope he can make it back soon.
