LB Mike Mitchell (transfer to Texas Tech, transfer to Southeastern FL)

I need to manage my expectations... because a middle tandem of what Mitchell and Kwon could be... defies imagination

and BTW don't tell me Spielman was not one of JC's favs

I've always seen Mitchell as a MIKE but that could certainly change if Kwon meets expectations here...I see Kwon as a pure MIKE, Mitchell can play SAM, and Trey Johnson at WILL. So pumped to see Mitchell on the field this fall...don't know if he will catch on enough to start at MIKE, but I think he sees some meaningful PT on defense and is a wrecking ball on special teams.

Exactly how I n see this playing out as well. Mitchell is athletic enough to play OLB, and yes, McMilllan like a pure MIKE to me as well.

WILL Trey Johnson, Chris Worley, Kyle Berger, Sam Hubbard
MIKE Curtis Grant, Camren Williams, Raekwon McMillan, Luke Roberts
SAM Joshua Perry, Mike Mitchell, Dante Booker

^ How I see the LBs, merely postionally not meat to be a depth chart.

Either way, I cant wait to see Mike running down on kickoffs lighting people up.

From my understanding all freshman come in to training camp with "black stripes" most likely electrical tape or something similar along the front back axis of the helmet. They are not considered full members of the team until they shed this stripe which is accomplished by attaining satisfactory levels of play, effort, character and whatever else you want to throw out there. Needless to say it shows they have made the coaches confident they have fully grasped the notion they are no longer in highschool, they are playing big time college football and are committed in all aspects.

More excited about Mitchell getting his off thi early to be honest. We've all heard what dontre's been doing so far, but haven't heard a Ron about Mitchell, and linebacker will be very thin this year still.

Agree. I too have been anxiously waiting to hear good things on Mitchell.

That's fantastic to hear Mitchell getting acclimated to the speed of the college game.

Also, I can't stop grinning at the fact that going into spring practice, the standout secondary player was probably Eli Apple. Now it seems to be Gareon Conley and Vonn Bell making huge strides.

I'd say the defense has reloaded quite nicely, and should be a treat to watch this fall.

Tattooing the offensive player no other defensive player can get a hand on is certainly encouraging.

From what I can tell this kid has everything it takes to be the next star Buckeye linebacker...sooner rather than later

I'm trying to be very cautiously optimistic about mitchell since he's so young and new to the college game. But I can't wait to see what he can do in s&g. He has all the tools on paper, but we need him to have the intangibles to be a great one and a leader of the defense. I'm sure he has the work ethic to get there
