Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

I was wondering about the legality until I remembered the penny mauling machine they have at the Toledo Zoo (and wherever else). You put a penny in, turn the device, and out comes a new memorial token of your visit to the Zoo.

This opens up to a fascinating study on the history of currency and what money actually is, but not in this thread. The fact of the matter is that the value of the metals in our current fiat money is less than 1/100th of its face value, particularly regarding quarters and half-dollars. The Fed doesn't care if you mess around with the metal stuff, apparently. I suppose you are allowed to do whatever you please with the paper stuff, too, as long as you don't try to circulate it, later. That's probably more of the key point....

Oh yeah, LeBron, chill out with the marketing man. That's a bit much.

Lebron James (official thread)

Just to squash this ridiculous rumor that lebrons nike contract includes some sort of incentive for him to go to a major market, this today from Brian Windhorst, cavs reporter for the akron beacon-journal, a guy that's been following Lebron's carreer since before he was even on TV (which is a long time.) If anybody in the media knows, it's windhorst. I don't know how many times it's been stated on this board, but if you heard it on Sportscenter, it's probaby WRONG.

• Many fans were frustrated last week that Redd returned to the last-place Milwaukee Bucks despite having the chance to come back home to Ohio and play with LeBron James. Well, the $20-some million difference between the offers was understandably the difference-maker. Keep those special rules to protect the incumbent team in mind in two years, when James is a free agent and the Cavaliers will be able to offer significantly more money to keep him. Contrary to numerous media reports, James' Nike contract does not have a kicker in it to increase his compensation if he plays in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. Some of his other endorsement deals do, but they represent much, much less than he can get by re-signing for a max contract in Cleveland. Not to mention he's restricted, and the Cavaliers can match any offer.

You think LeBron is going to be influenced by the chump change the guys at bubbulicous, upper deck, or sprite will throw his way compared to the $20 mill + that the cavs bird rights will be worth in a couple years?

The only way lebron leaves is if the cavs are losing horribly, which won't happen. It took a complete and total meltdown of everything around lebron for the cavs to miss the playoffs this year, and even then, it was by a tiebreaker.

We have to get some shirts made up with that. Instead of BP t-shirts we will all recognize each other by the

"If you heard it on SportsCenter it is probably WRONG!"

shirts we will all be wearing.
That would be great.

Maybe we could do something like "Herbie' for President!" on the back.

Go Bucks!

The thing you are missing is the difference in the Cavs and Bucks is over the years. That gave Redd the extra $, which for him is great since in 5 years he won't make that kind of $ with a new contract. Yet LeBron probably has 2 maxed out contacts in his future, so moving doesn't cost him $20 million.

depending on how much money this guy really wants to make, wouldnt it make sense for him to get the max contract he can in a market that will get him more money from people like Bubblicios and Upper Deck. he could get the huge contract and than incentives from other endorsements. if i want to make more money than i know what to do with, thats what i would do.. or am i missing something?

When will Cleveland morons learn? Funny how after 40+ years of futility, they still expect to win...

Yet another stupid-fuck post from an ignorant fucking slurpee-pumpin', rug-weavin' immigrant. The Cavs' first year was 1970. That makes 35 seasons, you ruby-foreheaded tent homo.

Uh, I was referring to all of cleveland sports. The Cavs, Indians, Browns. Over 100 team-years of never knowing what it's like to win it all.
