Herbstriet isn't likely to change anytime too soon (statement from last summer):

Kirk Herbstreit is a trusted, almost always measured voice on college football for ESPN. And he will remain with the network for at least another 10 seasons.

Herbstreit will continue to be one of the analysts for ESPN College GameDay and remain on the ABCSaturday Night Football package. Beginning in January 2015, he also will be in the booth for one College Football Playoff semifinal as well as the National Championship Game

Herbstreit, who will enter his 18th season as a part of ESPN's college football coverage, said in a statement, "I've always felt that ESPN and ABC are the home of college football and even more so now that they have the College Football Playoff for 12 years. Considering the opportunities that lay ahead and the great people I get to work with every day, it was an easy decision to stay with the company that gave me my start."

72-0. That's basically what needs to be said. Ohio State never punted. They only settled for a field goal once. They scored 10 touchdowns. The only drives that didn't end without scores were late into the 4th quarter. This was an old fashioned asskicking.

He was a huge Husker lover but "I thought" he was also a huge SEC guy. I could definitely be wrong but he definitely wasn't a fan of us. I don't know enough about him to debate it though.

Yes, it was before the SEC thing but you also have to remember I'm a USC fan and 2003 happened. Then 2004 happened. (Which I don't think anyone in the nation could beat us...but there's still that debate with some) 2005, we were even better and as untouchable as any team could possibly be but had way too many injuries and Texas beat us on the last play of the NCG, so they deserve it. But Trev was there before all of the 2006 SEC stuff talking trash

Well, I remember some people claiming that after tOSU beat Miami in the NCG, that 2 loss USC was better, so don't feel too bad.

Even though it's a Buckeye forum I'll always try to be honest and without bias, which I'll do successfully most of the time but not always. Just call me out and have fun with me if you think I'm posting biased and 99% of the time I'll rethink and probably agree if I am.

I've seen this argument before about "USC should be #1 instead of tOSU in 2002" and tbh it's mainly by non-USC fans, IME.

The biggest thing that comes up is that USC played 9 ranked teams and only 3 unranked teams to tOSU 4-5 ranked teams (been years so can't remember tbh. I only have the USC part memorized because it's my team) but you guys won out and we lost twice. End of story, IMO. You guys were the best in 2002 and no argument at all from me.

I remember the Iowa game with Brad Banks and that offense and was worried about playing them because they were a darn good football team and #3 in the nation. They were blowing everyone out. Edit: That's where my focus was in all honesty.

I honestly never gave a second thought to us being better than you in 2002 and it's unfortunate that others did and can't let it go, imo. If I'm ever asked what I think or if I think USC is better than tOSU in whatever situation, I'll be honest. In this case we weren't and you guys deserve 2002 NC.

Unlike Bama in 1978...
