Mark Sanchez (Philadelphia Eagles)

edbuck, I thought that I had read that somewhere too. Couldn't find a link so didn't mention it. Outstanding point. I really hope we find out early on this kid. Either way there are too many prospects interested in OSU this year. The earlier we know, the earlier we can celebrate or move on.

Sanchez at 10

No. 10 overall, Mark Sanchez (Mission Viejo [Calif.]) is the most polished quarterback in the land, but Perrilloux (at No. 3) has more upside. Sanchez, at 6-2 and 215 pounds, threw for more than 2,600 yards, 29 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. His completion percentage last season was a whopping 75 percent. He has great mechanics and footwork. Sanchez possesses a very good arm and has all the passes in his arsenal. He makes great decisions with the ball and is very accurate.

"I love to make audibles and break down the defense," Sanchez said. "I've been well-coached [by Bob and Bret Johnson] and I read well. I also get out of the pocket well and can throw on the run and scramble, too. I need to work on my footwork, speed and on my consistency."

Sanchez is currently listing Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas and USC as front-runners

His TD to Int ratio is exceptional. The key point I took out of that SI article was that he "makes great decisions." Does that sound like someone who just finished a great two years quarterbacking OSU? Ball control!

Nutty:

I have seen numerous group pictures of Sanchez from his Nike day and USC work out in L.A. and he looked much taller than most of the other QBs. Although even the USC board lists him at 6-2, he might actually be a bit taller.

Personally, I think that as a drop-back QB, he is much better than Perrilloux, who is ranked higher because of his devastating running ability.

Having only seen film of both of them I tend to agree you. I'm not sure Sanchez could have a better high school coach than Bob Johnson so he certainly has that going for him. Not many kids will get to college better prepared to play the position than Sanchez. Where do you think he ends up?

From what I hear in Los Angeles he was very impressed by his Ohio visit with his Father. One might think that perhaps he was saying all the gracious things as one visitor should when visiting a program like tOSU, but I think that he is genuinely interested and you guys have a legitimate shot. Bemoll might be the catalist in this deal.

If he waits till signing day, he may want to observe how the Buckeye passing game does this year, wait and see what happens in South Bend, and keep an ear on the Texas and USC situation regarding a premature departure of their QBs to the NFL. But then again he also mentioned that he may make a decision soon, so he may have already made up his mind.

I already mentioned in this thread that USC didn't recruit either Williams or Bemoll, so coach Johnson may have felt a little slighted, and he will play a big part in his college choice.

As much as I'd like for USC to get him, I think he will end up in Columbus.

By the way, did you guys notice that Virginia has 18 verbals already?

Nice catch on UVA SCemper. Nine of those are from out of state (hitting New York and Jersey hard). They have a five star and two four stars with the rest as yet unrated. Last year their entire class had one five start and three four star and at this point in the process they had four commits.

That is wild. Something to do with prospects of the new ACC perhaps?

Along that line I checked Marlyand. Thirteen in this class - last year 8 at this point. Duke had one at this point last season and now has 8 including their first four star in at least two years.

Then again Wake Forsest and NC St only have one each so far.

I simply can't recall a school having 18 commits by the end of June.

Thanks for reminding me about PSU building a class early last season. I just looked it up and they had 11 at this point and hit 18 at the end of August - which is still pretty impressive. Interestingly they have only one to date in this class.

I am not in favor of landing that many kids up front unless you are getting everyone you want - and that isn't likely. Of course UVA is not OSU.

My apologies for briefly hijacking the Sanchez thread. On that topic I think an early commit from him would be huge. The three positions I see as critical in this class are QB, RB and LB. We need one stud at each of those three and we could certainly check the QB box with Sanchez in the fold.

I agree - I see Sanchez as the QB, Wells as the RB, but have my doubts on LB. Andre Mathis seems to be a legit possibility (OSU is his co-leader, with Tennessee), but I don't see any other studs out there. Any thoughts?

LordJeff - Alex Daniels is another stud that we are recruiting as a LB. Hopefully, he will accept the fact that he is going to outgrow SS.

I haven't heard anything lately about McCoy either. He sounds like a stud. Last thing that I heard was that he favored Miami and tOSU.

If OSU can land both of those guys, they will be set at LB for some time.

I don't think we need a huge year from zwick to help with sanchez, but I do think OSU needs to show improvement in atleast the first few games to seal the deal. I believe that OSU has the lead as of right now, but we didn't start there and might possibly not finish there. I'll feel better if perriloux picks texas real soon and notre dame still hasn't offered sanchez. I think texas and notre dame, but especially texas, are the main competition. It's good that texas got a qb commit early and notre dame isn't the usual winning self. I think sanchez will pick OSU, I just hope he does it soon so we can benefit from him with other recruits.
