Junior safety Shane Simmons, a teammate of Ohio State commit Tyler Green, announces his top five: Buckeyes recruiting
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State already has a verbal commitment from 2015 defensive back Tyler Green of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic. But the Buckeyes want more from that program.

That player is 2016 safety Shane Simmons, who on Saturday narrowed down a massive scholarship offers list to five - Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, Maryland and Penn State.

Though Simmons hasn't yet been rated by Rivals.com, he has already racked up nearly 30 scholarship offers despite not yet playing a down as an upperclassman. Other programs who have offered Simmons are Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas A&M and others.

Simmons, a 6-foot-2, 223-pounder whom 247Sports rates as a four-star prospect, plans to be at Ohio State's Friday Night Lights Camp on July 25.
