Joseph Barksdale (OL Arizona Cardinals)

according to SOJ on the BN free board, this may be a fruitless exercise for osu regarding barksdale.

Dont buy a word he says, hes a huge Michigan fan. He always says OSU doesnt have a chance at anything. Hes not an insider or anything, just a common biased Wolverine fan.

EDIT: "As for Barksdale, you think what you want, I'm not going to waste my time arguing, I'll just end by saying this, I would rather be in our position with Barksdale then any other team recruiting him."

Thats all he said on the Barksdale recruitment. Hes just being his normal arrogant self.

Just by reading the updates, I feel good where tOSU stands at this point in time, its early in the process. Barksdale is the type of athlete we need on the defensive line, I love his quickness and his ability to cause havoc on the line.

A agree, I think we are in as good shape with Joseph as anyone at this point. Our depth chart is definantly more appealing with Michigans. He also came down for 4 games last year.

Hopefully this stays an OSU-Michigan battle, and a school like FSU doesnt end up jumping in...

when these kids throw a school like FSU they're just letting people know they are getting national attention instead of regional. They think it will help them with their ranking and recongition. FSU has to worry about getting John Brown, I rank him the #1 player in the nation.

i don't know the guy, nor claim to. i had a PM discussion with him some time ago about a few recruits. he acted as if he had inside info. His claims ended up being correct, but it may have just been dumb luck. Given such, I assumed he had some sort of info on the matter. perhaps not.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Not sure but I think he gets it from the premium board over there.

Ok, back to Barksdale.

This is one of the biggest recruiting needs, and this is the only player that the Bucks have targeted/offered to this point. If there is not a better than 50% chance that he winds up committing to tOSU, then I would at least question that strategy.

"To this point" is a rather shortsighted view of the recruiting process, considering that nothing is official for players or schools until next February. Let the process play out a bit, and don't worry when the Bucks have no five-star commits in March.

With the obvious exception of the class of 2003, I think that the current staff has exhibited a high degree of competence when it comes to recruiting (and instruction, game prep, and game day coaching, as well). The staff will target a few kids early, try to lock up several key players at camp, and then use the fall to identify sleepers and the winter to "close" on some of the "national" prospects. Don't question that strategy just because one top recruit from another state that happens to have two excellent football programs isn't a heavy Buckeye lean before the end of his junior year.

LJB,

I agree wholeheartedly. I was not trying to be shortsighted. My post was geared (at least to me when I was thinking it) more towards the fact that they know what is going on more than any tOSU or UM fan.

SonOfJorel is one of the biggest Mihcigan homers on the entire internet...

Disagree here. SOJE is normally straight when it comes to information. If he has some inside stuff (and he does quite often) he will take a hard Pro-UM stance. If not, he is willing to admit that UM is not the be all to end all.

IMO he is a fair poster, although Mili, he does get a stick up your ass occasionally on the UM Insiders boards.

But then again, what UM fan doesn't give you hemorrhoids.
