Re: Greetings Cass Tech Parents & Students:

As Principal of the world-renowned Cass Technical High School, I would like to officially welcome each and every one of you back to a thrilling and ground-breaking school year! I am excited to announce that Cass Tech has been recognized as an Excellent School by Excellence Schools Detroit, a group that includes the Skillman Foundation and the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce. Cass Tech has also been identified as a Reward School by the Michigan Department of Education for the second year in a row; which academically ranks Cass in the top 5% of all high school in the state of Michigan. Cass Tech is the only International Baccalaureate Candidate High School, the only one in DPS.

We have several new and returning corporate partners that are offering our students fantastic opportunities – the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), YMCA, WC3, Compuware, UAW, Triumph, Chrysler Automotive Corporation and U of M – School of Medicine. U of M will be selecting 9th grade students interested in careers in the medical field. WC3Middle College classes will begin on September with registration from September 11th – 19th. Additionally, Saturday ACT Prep courses will be provided for all 11th grade students.

This fall the C-SPAN bus will be at Cass Tech on Friday, September 6th and will highlight our awesome students! The C-SPAN bus will kick off the new school year by exposing students to new resources and interactive technology for the school year. C-Span will talk to our students about their documentary contest called Student Cam that has up to $100,000 in prizes. This winter our very own Cass Technical High School marching band will perform in the ESPN half-time show at the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. Off to a great start!

[sarcasm font] I'm sure he doesn't have to worry about a silly old football scholarship to Sparty, after going to an outstanding academic high school like Detroit Cass Tech he can get a full ride academic scholarship to scUM's medical school. In a little over 8 years we will all be calling him Dr. Campbell[/scarcasm font]

A lot of these kids (that are high school football stars) have been protected all their career and been allowed to get away with anything. They don't think of the consequences of any of their actions as there never has been any consequences. In addition, they just don't realize the value of a full ride athletic scholarship and how easy it is to lose it.

This isn't just a Detroit high school, and/or Sparty issue, it's all over the country. And needles to say, Ohio State has had some of these players with an attitude "that the rules don't apply to me" too.

I also work for Detroit Public Schools and at the least, Jayru has a C Violation which is a minimum of 180 days, he'll also probably be kicked out of Cass and DPS. He could probably transfer to a Charter School or a School out of state.

Im not going to automatically knee jerk about this, if Mike Edwards and Jamel Turner get their stuff together and play Division 1,he can as well. I mean, come on, i've seen way worse working for DPS. He slammed a security guard.....

Is this still the recruiting forum? Prolly shouldn't say it this way, but the kid better get his [Mark May] together real quick. Not because of the 'ship issue, but frankly, if he's that much of a loose cannon, he's gonna be easy to bait for a couple of well timed 15-yard flags. He could end up doing more harm to a team than good. That doesn't even begin to account for the damage that he's doing to himself.

There's always a chance that Sugar Shane doesn't work out and after a year of prep school and psychologists, he could end up at TSUN...
