You would expect/hope that if anything were to conflict with that quote (such as a possible flip of commitment) then they'd note as such. No one knows for sure what's happening with Weber, so all the claims of "so-an-so's insider info" is next to worthless.

There are people who probably know what is going on with Weber. They're just not talking on the record about it.

If Birm says the staff is mildly concerned, then I would say they feel a little left in the dark themselves at the moment.

two paragraphs up from the one you quoted was this:

New Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh made a big push to try to get Weber to reverse field and flip back to Michigan. While Weber didn't return phone calls or texts Sunday, he said recently he was "solid on Ohio State."

Edit: And I think he sticks. Just pointing out that this line in the article could show that some of the quotes are older.
