Brian "Body Kount" Kelly (HC Louisiana State)

On the one hand, what's he supposed to say? He can't just go out there and [Mark May] on his quarterbacks to the press by telling the truth. I certainly wouldn't want Urban Meyer saying he'd trade one of our position groups for a different set of players. Doesn't matter if it's true or not - it's not good for the program to do that so I understand to an extent why Kelly said what he did. His worst sin isn't his actual answer, it's that he gave one at all.

On the other hand, gimme a break. Ohio State's quarterbacks play school better, let alone football.
But we are talking about Brian Kelly, a man who doesn't hesitate to throw a QB under the bus to get the press off his ample ass.

Cardale Jones, JT Barrett conversation

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:12714676

Tom Rinaldi: "There's a coaching cliche that says if you have two quarterbacks, you really have none. What's your take on that Cardale?"
Cardale Jones: "I feel sorry for Notre Dame."

To which Cardale replied "Good thing we have three." Gotta admit, that was pretty funny. Some coaches definitely live by that adage about two quarterbacks, but Urban certainly proved that to be false last season. Who else could win a National Championship with a 3rd string QB? Amazing work. That whole interview was great, Cardale would be a fun guy to be around.

He also won an NC with a 2 QB system as well. So he disppeled that myth years ago

True. Chris Leak/Tebow was one of the best examples of a modern 2 QB system. I remember Kelly speaking to Urban when he was at ESPN around 2012 and asking about his time with Leak and Tebow. ND was split between an experienced pocket passer in Rees going into that season, and the somewhat mobile Golson. He never ended up using Tommy in that capacity that season, he remained more of a "Closer," but Kelly did end up utilizing Urban's suggestions against LSU last season to great success. Golson came in mostly during passing situations, while Zaire was used to run the ball and run the redzone offense.

:slappy: I doubt I'll ever burst out laughing as hard or as often as I do with Cardale. This might top when he cleared his good name on Twitter to ensure people didn't shortchange him on his blowout video game win over the sick kid in the hospital.

And JT is 20 going on 45. I love to watch the contrast between the two, JT so deadly serious and Cardale always ready to crack a joke.

"I think at the quarterback position, maybe other than Ohio State, I would take our two quarterbacks, and I would take our two over Ohio State," Kelly said. "But in terms of depth, I don't know that anybody has a better situation than we do with the two quarterbacks that we have."
