Rashan "LLL" Gary (DL Green Bay Packers)

It seems like Urban and Cooper have made a strong impression on Gary and he is interested in OSU.

It also seems like others are heavily involved in the process and looking for what programs offer the most off field support- the best tutoring and meal programs, of course.

I'm thinking SEC is still the likely destination unless Gary goes rogue.

To me this is trending to OSU as what I can tell even though my opinion seems to be against the grain so to speak. He is talking about returning to OSU with his DL coach which from what I've read is something even scum hasn't even got. I think honestly Rashan prefers OSU with their aggressive culture and as Hairball gets more awkward and their season progresses as does ours he will see that we have more to offer.

1. Better DL coach- I can tell he really is building a relationship with Larry Johnson.
2. Better culture
3. Friendly DT depth chart
4. Better distance from home
5. Better Head coach
6. and of course a winning atmosphere

If anyone takes Rashan from OSU it will be Bama' but it will not be scum IMO.

While those 6 reasons are true, that doesn't mean those are Gary's 6 reasons for choosing a school. Just remember that his former HS coach knows exactly what mama wants.

That view is a little homer, they are all good points from a fans perspective but not realistically from the POV of what Gary's thinking. ScUM fans can say the same things about their school as well. I still don't see this trending OSU's direction, and that's fine. If we can get Jackson I'd be more than elated

This was all my opinion but that's not being a homer at all to be honest. Would you trade Larry Johnson for their DL coach? If Rashan goes to Scum it'll suck because I think he'll be a force no matter where he goes but it will not be because their DL coach out recruited LJ.

No idea why but I just feel better about Rashan's situation than most of you all that's all. I don't know if we land him but I think we will be right there in the end to close the deal whether that happens or not is another question.

Here's the deal. tOSU (barring any bizarre turn of events) is going to look better and better to Rashan the closer we get to signing day for a ton of reasons. There's going to be a lot of Buckeyes talked about for the NFL draft, the depth chart, hopefully another NC run, fellow recruits along the D Line, etc. And Urban is the best closer in the business. It's only July and we are getting a serious look from him. Yes, we are playing from behind but you've got to like our chances. Keep in mind there is almost 7 months left people. If we are in the running now it's hard to imagine we look anything but better at that time. But, if we don't.....there are other options out there and the same factors apply to them as well. I just see us landing one blue chipper.

As I said previously, if the decision was purely up to Rashan, Ohio State might have a decent chance in this recruitment given Cooper and the staff's efforts to develop a relationship.

However, after his mother's bizarre comments following their brief visit to OSU, it seems like he will be pushed strongly to an SEC school by his support system.

I honestly don't think him returning to OSU without his mother is really all that great of a development unless he is planning on going against her wishes.

Since UM is seemingly in a much better situation in terms of comfort and relationships with his former HC on staff, I'm actually not upset with this situation.

I recommend pumping the brakes on this one while sitting back on letting UM get their hopes up before being burned by an SEC school last minute Da'Shawn Hand style.

It will be a much more enjoyable recruitment that way.

I'm not disagreeing with your points, but that there's always more to those points. In the world of recruiting any and everything does happen and baffling decisions can be made. We've seen kids choose UK, Mizzou, Illinois, Maryland and even Rutgers over OSU in the past 8-10yrs, and OSU was dominating the Big 10 and went to 2 NCs and won multiple BCS Bowls, and those schools didn't even have coaches with the name recognition of the Harbrau. I'd be happy to welcome Gary into this class, and even though its only July, we have a chunk of ground to make up, not just with scUM, but the always lurking Bama and other SEC schools

What did his mom say exactly?

What did his mom say exactly?
I can't find the exact quote, but something along the lines of she didn't like the off field plan Ohio State offered.

More generally it was rumored that she hated her time at Ohio State.

All this after spending the entire day with LJ Sr. who is noted for talking about anything but on field stuff with players and their families. Plus 'real life Wednesdays' and all the numerous job fairs we constantly see the players participating in made her comments perplexing.

Finally, everyone thinks his mother is going to have a huge impact on his decision.

Birm talks about most of these things in this post: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-...-on-gary-hall-visits-maryland-ford-and-hamlin
