#Buckeyes offered DE Austrian Robinson of Pawling (NY) Trinity Pawling today. More and more options for Robinson

Will watch some film later but he does have a solid offer list...Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Maryland, UVA, etc. Not a lot of talent in New York this year, unlike last year where you had Samuel, Holley, Mokwuah, etc. Maryland lean up until now...we'll see if the OSU offer changes that. On first glance I see a kid that will need a redshirt year to redistribute some weight and get stronger. Has very violent hands and appears to have good length. Also seems to have a decent burst for a guy playing at 260+. Competition is suspect at best, but he looks to be playing out of position at strongside end...think he is destined for tackle. I don't think he is even close to that listed 6-6, which is not a bad thing if he is headed for tackle...in fact his Rivals profile says 6-4...which probably makes him 6-3.

I mentioned in the OOS thread, I figured this offer went because of the staff wanting a DT. I could easily see him redshirting do the staff can put 20+lbs on him. He could honestly gain 10+lbs before he hit campus.

CLOSER LOOK: DL ROBINSON
Scout.com live evaluation: Austrian is one of your typical "hoop" players who gave football a try in the later parts of his high school career. He was a star center for Trinity-Pawling and then went out for football during his 9th grade season. The next two years he racked up 20 sacks. The long 6' 6", 275-pound lineman is actually projected as an offensive tackle by Scout but most colleges are recruiting the All-State performer for the defensive side of the ball. Robinson didn't receive his first scholarship offer until last February. Now the rest is history as schools dotted all over the N' East followed. Robinson went from a regional to a national prospect during his senior season when he became an even more polished defensive lineman. He still needs to work on his leverage but he has strong hands, long arms, and an explosive first step.

Robinson reports that Maryland is his leader, followed by Ole Miss, with Miami rounding out his top three. Ohio State and Penn State are both trying to angle to receive his last official visit on January 30th.

FWIW, 247 is listing him as visiting OSU officially on 1/30...

Wow, I am really liking this kid. Don't know about his actual size, but the way he moves, gets off blocks and pursues, it's hard to believe he's rated as an OT. I doubt he's 6'6", but he does appear to be long. I really like the kid who ended up at Oklahoma, but I like this kid at least as much as the kid who committed to Clemson.

I hope OSU is able to show this kid what he needs to see and close on him.

Go Bucks!!!

Buckeyes Postpone Visit With Defensive Lineman
The Ohio State staff continues on the road, but has had to postpone a visit today with a defensive lineman.

Pawling (N.Y.) Trinity-Pawling defensive lineman Austrian Robinson said last week Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson would be at his school to see him on Jan. 22. However, that visit has been postponed.

“Coach Johnson just sent me a voicemail,” Robinson said late Wednesday night. “He said he can’t make it (today) because of a flight change. He said he is coming out next week.”

The 6-foot-6 and 255-pound Robinson has made official visits to Maryland, Miami and Purdue. He is scheduled to visit Ole Miss this weekend and Ohio State the weekend of Jan. 30.

“My top four is Ole Miss, Miami, Ohio State and Maryland,” Robinson said. “Maryland is probably on top.”
