Ed "LL" Warinner (Run Game Coordinator FAU)

Wow, I hate to say it sounds about perfect for Army and Warriner both, what a great fit that could be. I didn't realize he had been there for so long in his career.

Only if Army is his dream job. I would guess recruiting and pay might be an issue. I would hate to have to recruit players for an academy. Talk about never winning an recruiting battle. Noted my recruiting experience is 15+ years old, but if I had only received offers from Air Force and YSU I would have had a hard time signing 8 years of my life away to run the triple option.

The real detriment is... developing a player that at best will see the NFL in 4-6 years.. so you'll never see the fruits of your rewards.. that has to be very frustrating

Why wouldn't you be there long enough ?
Because it's Army and thus a rotating door like scUM has become or... ??
While a service academy has its unique challenges and pitfalls, I'd imagine it also comes with some unique upside as well.
Not that a service academy would have a shot at somebody as talented as Clarett... but imagine if he had gone to a service academy that would've shut him out from all that noise and given him a real family. I don't doubt Coach Coombs was serious in that youtube video; but the kind of family you can create at a public University isn't even close to what you'd get at a service academy.
It's the kind of place I could see a Jim Tressel thriving... obviously not as much in the W/L column, but in other areas.

Edit -- just to be clear, I hope to all hopes that of all the Assistants Warriner stays.
But I'd feel genuinely good for anyone going to a service academy... whereas leaving to be HC at a Mid Major MAC like Bowling Green is 'meh, good luck mate!'

I could see a Tressel.. who is all about relationships... but my assumption is that Warinner is player development focused
I think the world of the service academies... but I don't see them as football factories... builders of men/women and leaders.. not LTs

Not a good sign
Ohio State offensive line coach Ed Warinner interviews for coaching vacancy at Army: Buckeye Breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State already lost co-defensive Everett Withers, who was officially introduced as the new head coach at James Madison on Friday.

Now Urban Meyer could be on the verge of losing another assistant.

Though Ed Warinner’s name surfaced as a candidate for the Army job late last week, the Buckeyes now are in real danger of losing their offensive line coach after reports surfaced Saturday that he interviewed for the job.

Another candidate for Army is Georgia Southern co-offensive coordinator Jeff Monken, but Warinner holds the edge when it comes to familiarity with the program.

Man, I think it was said in the coaching rumors thread from a couple years ago that the thought process is Warinner would end up retiring from tOSU. I wish the guy the best of luck but want him to stay badly

While I am with you, I have to think that this is almost a done deal if he did interview because of all of his coaching experience at 2 military academies.
