Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

2-0 and they have looked really good doing it. The youngsters don't look dazzled even playing against an original 6 team last night in the Rangers. Hartnell endeared himself to all CBJ fans when he took a (well deserved) run at Ian Stempniak after Stempniak went after Artem Anisimov's head. Hartnell cleanly knocked Stempniak right on his ass before the whistle and Stempniak just sat there looking up at him like the bully who just got his nose broken. Marko Dano got his first goal and Cam Atkinson is on pace for 82 goals this year 8D
The fans and the atmosphere were outstanding last night for the home opener (from what I could see on TV).
Dallas comes in on Tuesday. The really bright side to all of this is that this team is nowhere near full strength. Johansen is still getting his legs under him and Boone Jenner, Ryan Murray and Brandon Dubinsky have yet to take the ice.

The man in question is Kevin Schroeder, and he's a regular at Columbus Blue Jackets games. Fans know him simply and accurately as "Dancing Kevin."

I wonder if he is a plumber on his "day job".

Dallas game was tough, but that was one motivated team and they came out flying. Columbus recovered but it was too late. Damage was done early and then Dallas hung on. Dallas beat Pittsburgh last night as well.
Calgary tonight in Columbus. 3-2 on the season and coming off of a big win over Chicago the other night. Their goalie stood on his head as Calgary was out shot 50-18 for the game. Marko Dano is hurt so don't know if he's going to play. Ryan Murray will see a doctor today and could get cleared to play although I don't know how much he'd be on the ice tonight. Can't afford many more injuries. It's getting ridiculous. BoB might get the night off. Either tonight or tomorrow we will get a look at Curtis McElhinney.

Hopefully it's a sell out tonight and the 5th line is fired up.

Hearing some trade rumblings involving Columbus and Edmonton. Heard Nail Yakupov is on Jarmo's radar. No link, but saw a tweet confirming the two teams have been in talks.

FWIW, I found this: Scouting directors from the St. Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets and Toronto Maple Leafs were in press row, prompting one league executive to weigh in on the activity.
"I've never seen that type of action unless something big is going down," he said, regarding that many team representatives scouting a game this early in the season, "and I'm not talking about Jeff Petry for a fourth-round pick."
To no one's surprise, though, the current speculation revolves around wingers Nail Yakupov and Jordan Eberle.
Yakupov, a former No. 1 overall pick, is on the final year of his entry-level deal and has been a disappointment throughout his tenure in Alberta. Eberle has five years (including this season) remaining on his six-year extension that was signed in August 2012.

Wow.....the CBJ overcome a 2-goal deficit to go up 3-2, promptly fall behind 4-3, tie it up on the PP, then score the seemingly go ahead goal with 1:30 left only to have it taken off the board by a bullshit call. Then they go ahead and score the real winner :60 later. 5-4, good guys!

That was a bullshit call if I ever saw one. Justice was served though. On to Anaheim tonight. Long week so not sure I'll stay up for the whole thing, but if they can pull one out tonight...
