Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Heard on the radio Portzline says the CBJ are talking to a team about trading the #8 pick for a young lockdown defender

Nashville comes to mind with Jones or Josi, they dont have a first round pick and could use one of the top forwards in the draft

i would prefer they stay at 8 and take Provorov who some think ends up better than Hanifin. but i dont think i would be surprised if we traded up for Hanifin either.

I heard those CBJ TV announcers talking about a kid who played for Minnesota this past season and was drafted by the CBJ last year. He is not going to return for his senior season but I missed his name and what position he plays and I have no idea if he would be ready for prime time.

Mike Reilly, probably not going to sign long term in Columbus, if he even signs his ELC anyway so it doesn't matter much. Dad owns the Wild.

This article gives the reasons that Blue Jacket's fans (yet again) should have real optimism for next year.

Blue Jackets Will be a Real Threat in 2015-16

Something’s got to give for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After an injury-marred 2014-15 season, which included setting a franchise mark of 508 man-games lost, the Blue Jackets missed out on post-season play for the 12th time in 14 seasons of play. But despite their treacherous luck, the evidence suggests their luck is about to change.

Better Luck Next Year

The phrase, “Better luck next year,” is usually compatible with a franchise that lives the losing curse of Groundhog Day, only on an annual basis instead. For the Columbus Blue Jackets, however, it’s an analytical idiom.

Columbus’ downright horrible luck resulted in missing the playoffs by nine points, despite rattling off seven straight wins in the month of December, and nine straight from Mar. 18 through Apr. 4.

If injuries were measured in PDO, the Blue Jackets’ league-leading 393 injuries would leave them near the bottom of the entire NHL, handicapping them to 242845.44 missing shots based on Mangameslost.com‘s Time Missed Impact to Team (TMITT-skater) Metric.

What exactly is that, and how is it measured?

Brandon Saad traded to CBJ.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
#CBJ acquire Brandon Saad and two prospects from #Blackhawks for Anisimov, Dano, Morin, Troop and a 4th rd pick in 2016

There are a lot of Blackhawks fans crying in their beers right now. They won't win the cup this past year without Saad.

Sucks that Anisimov and Dano are leaving, but neither one of them could stay healthy. Saad is a legit top-3 forward and he's an RFA and he's only 22. Pair him with Johansen at center and Hartnell/Foligno at right wing and you have a legit top line.

And the power play is going to be awesome.

The CBJ still need another legitimate NHL defenseman - preferably a right handed shot.

Letestu gone to Edmonton at 3yrs, $5.4M. Gregory Campbell brought in from Boston at 2yrs, $3M. A bit of a downgrade in my IMO, but not a terrible move.

Anisimov got a 5 year extension from the Hawks.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are retiring the 3-year-old "Join the Battle" rallying cry in favor of a new slogan.

The National Hockey League club announced Friday that it is calling on fans to “March With Us” in its new marketing campaign for television commercials, team branding and social media.

"Carry The Flag"..."Join The Battle"...."March With Us"....who comes up with this shit? What is wrong with just "Let's Go Jackets"?

Brandon Saad's Blue Jackets career got off to a very painful start

Columbus Blue Jackets fans have been buzzing since the team acquired two-time Stanley Cup champion Brandon Saad from the Chicago Blackhawks this summer before signing him to a long-term extension. They surely can't wait to see him in full Blue Jackets regalia in game action, but his debut has been delayed a bit.

The cause? Not even a week into training camp, Saad was participating in a morning skate when one of those pesky hockey pucks came and struck him right in the mouth. A rite of passage for any hockey player you say, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt.

#CBJ Brandon Saad had one tooth chipped and others bent back into his mouth. Work being done today. Yes, I'm wincing as I type this.

Saad, however, was back in practice two days after his date with the dentist wearing a jaw protector on his helmet. Here's a look at the Blue Jackets' new No. 20 with his new headgear.

Anyone interested in getting a BP Fantasy Hockey League going? It's been years in the making, but I'm bound to finally get one started.
