LB Nick Conner (Official Thread)

Can't say I'm a fan of the slow play. Although, if they do hold off until offering in the summer, it'll give them a better read on where Kilby-Lane stands.

Though, fwiw, I prefer Conner to Kilby-Lane.
Funny bc I am a huge fan of Kilby-Lane and absolutely want him in this class (see his thread)...also prefer Conner as well. Conner is a kid that I would be remissed to not see in the '15 class. I realize there is a ton of talent in the class that we need to purse, I just don't know how Conner is not at least equivalent. Baker is definitely in, but Hilliard, Kilby-Lane, DeBerry, etc. are no guarantees. I say work with Conner and Baker (which makes two superb LBs imo) and then find the next 1-2 guys. I would prefer Hilliard and Kilby-Lane but DeBerry can play DE easily.

Moral of the story...I will cry if Conner is not in the '15 class.

Have to get this kid in our class. What's there to see at camp? He just owned the Midwest camp and did really well against THE BEST not sure there's more to see with nick. Our philosophy has been get the best talent in ohio and then go national. Well he's a top ohio kid and I really hope he gets his offer.

I don't get "we need to see you in camp", when he plays so close to campus.

It's not about seeing him play on film against local competition, it's about seeing him in person against more comparable talent. It's alot easier to compare apples to apples that way, plus you like seeing up close intangibles like how competitive they are, how they take instruction on drills and respond, etc. Camp serves a large variety of purposes and is a great way to sniff out who gets an offer and who doesn't. There's method in the madness :)

That and I think the coaches know that once an offer is extended, a commitment will immediately follow. I certainly trust the coaches but I just get antsy after I see a film like Nick's and he is right in our backyard. In any event, I see him coming into camp and dominating, getting an offer, and committing on the spot.
