LB Nick Conner (Official Thread)

That and I think the coaches know that once an offer is extended, a commitment will immediately follow. I certainly trust the coaches but I just get antsy after I see a film like Nick's and he is right in our backyard. In any event, I see him coming into camp and dominating, getting an offer, and committing on the spot.

Like you said RB, as long as he performs in camp like expected than an offer will likely follow, but all roads cross thru that camp! I hope he gets an offer as well, he's a guy who wants to be a Buckeye and no convincing is needed. I used to scout and there were few things I enjoyed more than seeing kids compete in a camp atmosphere when they know offers are on the line; that kind of pressure with the instructions from the position coaches ringing out, your competition right next to you, etc. makes for a really great environment. Nick seems to thrive in those spots.

Did not quite get MVP for the LBs at the NFTC combine, but was really impressive. Kid looks really fluid in coverage and we already know he is a tenacious tackler...not really sure what he has left to prove other than coming to camp and showing he wants the offer.

I don't think there's anything he can prove at this point, as long as the staff has several players offered rated higher than him. His chance is for one of Hilliard, Baker, Deberry or Kilby Lane to choose another school it seems. 4 LBs in this class could be the cap. And we also have offers out to a few other LBs as well. But on the bright side, a lot can happen from until the season starts, let alone from now until the next NSD

I hear you and those guys are higher on the board no doubt, but there is still the chance he shows up to camp and is too impressive in front of the staff to turn down (I could definitely see that happening). DeBerry may well be a DE/Viper guy (that is where I project him), Baker can play more than one position although I see him at LB, and Hilliard is far from a sure thing. I think there is room to take him in June if he blows up camp, even if those guys are still on the board.

So Is Deberry being recruited as a LB or DE/rush end? That certainly makes a difference and could go in favor of Conner, or against him. Hilliard will be a sure battle, but we still have multiple offers to other LBs, and if the OOS vs in state strategy holds, he may have to wit. But like you said an incredible camp performance can earn that offer(I.e. Terry Mclaurin, Darron Lee, etc)

I believe as a DE/Viper (so he may occasionally drop back, but primarily a DE). But yes, Darron Lee is a guy that came to my mind...we had guys like Mitchell, T. Johnson, Worley, etc. higher on the board but he blew up camp and they knew they had to make room for him.

Until I see Sparty offer him, I fall back on the fact that they offered Hilliard, baker, DeBerry & Holland too. Conner can play, but it seems like nearly everyone is slow playing him.
