Scout$--Ohio 2016 OL Tommy Kraemer Cuts List To Five

Final five of Ohio State, Boston College, Notre Dame, Duke, and Northwestern. He says tOSU's academics are not the same as the others but it is still a good education and great football.

Academics are what you make of them. The football players at Notre Dame, Duke, and most of the Ivies rarely take advantage of their institutions' rarefied academic reputations - at least, not in the classroom. I can vouch for Dartmouth firsthand.

Cannot say I disagree with Leroy's US News rankings. But this is undergraduate programs, not graduate school(s). ND doesn't have a serious grad program (why they are not in B10, not football TV contract), and BC, not so much. Duke and Northwestern are above tOSU with Fuqua and Kellogg (both schools of business), and I believe Med and Law Schools. Other than that cannot say. Of course this is for the people who don't go on to the NFL, or after their pro careers. Pretty sure that 'guaranteed' admission to graduate programs is not allowed by NCAA, but would bet hard cash it happens. The unwritten thing is that the fanbase of tOSU (business owners, etc) take care of Ohio State grads pretty well and avenues in Ohio seem to be more far-reaching, given the huge fan base and all (how many college TV personalities has tOSU got on air?). Here's hoping Tommy reads this, as the best thing about a good undergrad degree is that it gets you into a great grad program. Go Bucks

JEROME BAKER'S BIG DECISION, TOMMY KRAEMER TO VISIT AND DWAYNE HASKINS' SUMMER PLANS
KRAEMER VISIT WILL HAPPEN "SOON"
When you've got the country's 16th-ranked player down the road from your school, getting him on campus as often as possible is imperative. That's the situation Ohio State is facing with Cincinnati Elder's Tommy Kraemer. The five-star offensive tackle had hoped to make a return, overnight trip to Columbus by the end of the June. Unfortunately, June ended a lot sooner than anyone thought.

"(The end of June) kind of snuck up on me," Kraemer said with a laugh. "My dad has been talking with Coach (Ed) Warinner a lot lately to get a date set up in July, and we've gotten more comfortable with (Warinner.)"

Since announcing his top-five schools (Ohio State, Notre Dame, Boston College, Duke and Northwestern) Kraemer said he's heard from quite a few new schools. He's also heard more from others who have hoped to get back involved with his recruitment.

"I've not added any new offers lately," he said of his recruitment. "But ever since I put out my top five a lot of schools have been in contact. Some have been talking to my head coach a lot lately to (get back in the mix.)"

As for the Buckeyes and Kraemer, it's not just been an improving relationship with Ed Warinner that is working in Ohio State's favor.

"I talked for a while with Tyler Gerald," Kraemer said of the 2016 Buckeye commitment. "We're trying to figure out a date where we can both visit together."
