Ohio State Athletic Program Violations

It is. He just asked me where Ohio State had been ass-raped when they did the right thing. In case anyone forgot, self reporting before didn't do us any favors. We still got [censored]ed.

Not to dredge that whole fiasco back up again, but we "got fucked" because our former head coach did NOT self report the Tat 5 until it broke in the media several months later.

Let's not revise history to suit our means. :ohwell:

I thought we self reported but he didn't disclose that he knew prior to the self audit?

The media's knowledge of this was a direct result of our self reporting.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

what a clever way to word that and imply that he was wrong when we all know OSU actually self reported it and in so doing implicated their own beloved coach.

That cooperation, as well as the diligence with the charity gifts was rewarded with a very harsh sentence.

Cooperation got them nothing.

This case like virtually every other has proven that obfuscation is the method most successful with the Ncaa. Ask auburn or s Carolina. Ask Clarett. Ask calipari.

It isn't the right thing to do but the consequences are typically worse when a school cooperates with the powerless NCAA.

Read better. I said this was part and parcel of a continuing disconnect between Gene Smith and a proper understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Read better? Here's what you said guy:

Looks like you did say he should be fired. Not saying I agree or disagree, just sayin'.

It's OK to say "you're right, I did say that" no need to get into a pissing match digging your heels in.

Personally, I stopped caring about your opinions when you said LBJ was the best athlete ever. (*only if you discount he can't preform athletically when pressure is on)

To each their own, buck.

At least CBS Sports feels some of these violations are a joke and has a sense of humor.

Re: On one occasion in September of 2011, interim head coach Luke Fickell left the toilet seat up. This is an NCAA violation of Title IX gender equity laws.

OK, so that last one about the toilet seat is completely made up, but the three before it are very real. This is the kind of thing the NCAA is working hard to crack down on.

That is pretty funny...not big on the whole infraction since JT was fired thing tho as it makes it sound it's all on the FB team.

I'm not trying to be foul or anything but since I saw Title IX it makes me wonder.....

If a female coach is in the the locker room area with either a female athlete or recruit and either should happen to need say a feminine hygiene type product..would it be a NCAA violation for said coach to give said player or recruit one?

Ive seen that common courtesy can be a violation just wondering if common decency can be as well.

The latest incident just might be the "Straw" that broke some peoples backs.

Or in the case of Kelly Bundy, "the squaw that stroked the camel's sack."

Damn, I miss that show.

Interesting question. One I'll have to ask Ali Viola when my youngest attends softball camp there this summer.

Sadly those nipples are no more.
I believe they have been replaced by fully NCAA compliant nipples now!

The NCAA according to President Mark Emmert knows there is a "problem" with the current rule book and is "working " on it to get rid of a lot of the small stuff that wastes their resources.
On revising the complex NCAA rulebook:
"It's very complicated to take a 400-plus-page rule book and shrink it down to something sensible. But we're going to do it." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/coll...AA-president-Mark-Emmert-interview/52467378/1

Bottom line this is a bigger deal for the blood thirsty media and opposing fan base than the NCAA.

The worst and most inexplicable would be the Gene Smith video to Ezekiel Elliot. How does an athletic director not know better? Fire this guy. Yesterday.

I'm no gene fan, but how does Archie get off scot-free on the interwebs? While now in the alumni association, he has a longer relationship with the university and oversaw his own son's recruitment...by Ohio State...all of 26 months ago. Not to mention his nephew being a member of the 2002 title team.

Both men should've used more discretion, even if Archie's message wasn't illegal, it appears as though it was filmed in conjunction with smith's and both should've known better.

Edit: I see jlb and ORD had some back and forth on page two. I think Archie should've known better seeing as he's spent time in an AAD role and as the parent of a recruitable athlete in the recent past.
