Update with Scout and ScoutingOhio links...FWIW, Scout has Corey as the #4 OG in the country in their early rankings...#1 is Carlos Hyde's teammate Nick Alajajian and #3 is Chris Watt.

So with Linsley's offer as an OL, this must include him in the "6 OL's for only 3 more spots" that Spiker indicated he was told. If this is the case who are the others?
Hall (offered), Watt (offered), Linsley(offered), obviously are the first three in if they verbal.
Does that mean Freeman, Klatt, Spiker are next in line for TOSU offers?
Or conversely, next out when offers become verbals?

Recruiting is fluid...things change...I wouldn't keep bringing up that line from the Spiker article like it was written in blood...the bottom line is the target number for this year is likely to be 4 OL. Give me Mewhort, Linsley, Hall and Watt and I would call that an OL class. Two guards, a kid who can play insider or at center and a prototype right tackle.

This one should be over relatively soon...

That's exciting, Mewhort, Linsley, Hall and Watt would be a potentially great complimenting class to 2008!
Wade just two questions . . .
When you say this one should be over soon are you referring to Linsley or the 4 OL scholarship class?
And any thoughts on where the others -- Shrive, Freeman, Longo, Spiker, Klatt line up on the TOSU board? Sure seems like some hefty and interested talent that will not be part of this 2009 class.

Off topic for just a moment before I steer things back to Corey:

Shrive and Nixon are obviously on the board...I think they are the kind of guys you take with your extra schollies if they want to come on board, regardless of how many other OL you have committed.

It's still too early to evaluate kids that definitively at this point, IMO. After camps the picture becomes a little clearer and then you have to see how they develop during their senior year.

I don't see Freeman getting an offer...it seems every year there is a kid like him and Zebrie Sanders that has offers from everyone else but does not end up with an offer from OSU. There are varying theories as to why, but I don't think this is the place to discuss that. He may get an offer eventually, but it would surprise me.

Mewhort, Linsley, Hall and Freeman are obviously the cream of the crop in Ohio. Their offers sheets confirm that and having watched film of all of them I feel safe saying they are at the top of the class.

I have Klatt, Bujnoch and Spiker about even right now...they are the next tier below that top group. I think this is justified by the fact that they all have Big 10 and MAC offers. They are all likely to end up with some Big East offers as well.

McShane, Anevski and Longo would be in the next group...all have MAC offers at this point.

All of this is subject to change...recruiting is extremely fluid...

The "over soon" comment was referring to Linsley in particular...I don't see him waiting too long to pull the trigger. He may take some visits but in the end I would be shocked to see him end up anywhere but OSU.

Scout $

3/8

By The Bank...talks about receiving the OSU offer and about visiting this weekend. Would like to hear from PSU and Notre Dame as well.

It's a matter of when, not if...

After watching his film, I love this offer. Corey moves extremely well, has good feet, great intial punch, and a mile long meanstreak. He moves well forward and back but his side to side movement looks like it will need a bit of work. His athleticism and drive blocking are impressive though.

Agile and tenacious. Love watching him make those seal blocks and open those holes. He plays like a faster version of Downing in HS. Me thinks we found our pulling guard!

I agree with you guys- great offer to another kid that can't wait to be a Buckeye. You can never have enough of those on your team.

Corey is to me an impressive young man! I really love his humility for someone who is so very talented.....the scouts think so too; OG #4 currently on Scout.com. I was almost as excited as Corey was about the Buckeye offer, and I look forward to him making the right choice....I do believe that it's gonna be the Buckeyes!

The faster we have top O-linemen verbal to tOSU, the easier it is gonna be recruiting top RBs and QBs.
