OL Marcelys Jones (transfer to Kentucky; transfer to Alcorn State)

Congratulations to marcelys. Can't wait to get him on campus and see where the staff gets him to play. Seems like an OG, but the same was said of mewhort and linsley. Versatility is the key

Criminally underrated. We got ourselves a good one with Marcelys.

Agreed, I've felt this way for awhile. Still has some weight to lose and redistribute, but he is already so strong and has great feet for an interior guy. Below is a free link to his performance in Pitt...just sends DL home packing and holds his own with Joe Henderson (LB) considering he is just straight speed rushing a guard. Kid is way underrated but whether the sites recognize it or not, Marcelys is one of the top interior guys in the country and has a chance to be great here.

Glenville football hangs on to beat Solon, 15-14
By Teddy Cahill, Special to cleveland.com
September 07, 2013 12:14 a.m.

SOLON, Ohio – Trailing Glenville by one point with just three seconds left on the clock, Solon lined up to attempt a 33-yard field goal. A game that, at times, had a playoff feel to it, would come down to one final play.

Glenville seniors Marshon Lattimore and Marcelys Jones came blaring through the center of the Solon line as senior kicker Keon Hemerlein sent the ball toward the uprights. Lattimore and Jones caught a piece of the ball, knocking it backwards and securing a 15-14 victory for the Tarblooders.

Elite offensive lineman expected to visit UK on Saturday

Dozens of University of Kentucky football recruits spread across several classes are expected to be at Commonwealth Stadium for the Kentucky-Louisville game Saturday.

One of the biggest will be 2014 prospect Marcelys Jones, a four-star offensive lineman from Cleveland. Jones is currently committed to Ohio State, but the UK coaches are trying to flip him to Lexington.

Rivals.com ranks Jones as the No. 8 guard in the Class of 2014 and the No. 12 player from Ohio. UK is looking to add one more offensive lineman to its top-10 recruiting class, and Jones has become a prime target.

The 6-foot-4, 350-plus pound prospect committed to Ohio State last winter, but he’s visited several other schools since then.

Rivals.com analyst Josh Helmholdt said the Buckeyes haven’t backed off.

“Ohio State is definitely all in on his recruitment right now,” Helmholdt said. “That could change. But I think if it does change it’ll be because of how many other visits he’s taken. He committed to them last December. It was kind of an out-of-the-blue commitment. He just decided one day that he wanted to do it. I think his coaches and everybody else thought that he was going to take it out awhile longer. Since then, he’s flirted with just about every other school that has shown him interest.”

Helmholdt called it Jones’ “Southern tour.” The recruit took visits to Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia Tech during a weekllong period in July. He had a few other visits last spring.

He’s scheduled to take an official visit to Alabama later this fall. All of those schools have offered Jones, and many of those coaches think they have a realistic shot at flipping his commitment.

“It’s the way that Marcelys talks to these coaches,” Helmholdt said. “In fact, I heard from a school that I don’t think is really in the mix at all – they said he’s always the most interested when he comes to (their) school. That’s kind of his personality. I think he gives people a positive vibe when he comes and sees them.

“Looking at it from the outside in, my take is that most likely he’ll end up at Ohio State. That’s not to say that he won’t flip to Kentucky or he won’t flip to Alabama, but at this point I think it’s most likely Ohio State.”
