OL Taylor Decker (Detroit Lions)

it looks like gets too upright out of his stance and relies on superior size and strength to manhandle whoever he is blocking

that kind of technique won't work so well against better competition

that being said, he obviously has the physical tools to be really good, he just needs a bit of coaching and some hard knocks against college level competition to straighten out his mechanics

Scout $ - Decker Talks Irish

12/19

By Berk...ND has invited him to a junior day...UVA and Northwestern has initiated contact...says ND is his favorite.

If ND offers early they can lock him up...would be a shame too because I think he could be a great tackle in 2012 class along with Kalis...

Saw Decker play basketball against Sidney. Vandalia pulled that one out at the end. Decker was a beast in the paint, I don't have the final numbers, but I bet he scored 25, and pulled down around 10 rebounds. Very impressive, not crazy athletic, but definitely could move.

An ideal tackle class imo. You have a true LT in Decker and a true RT in Kalis...really wide range of skill sets you bring in with those two. Here is to hoping we stay in touch.

Taylor Decker?s top 3: OSU, Notre Dame, UC
By Marc Pendleton | Friday, December 24, 2010

VANDALIA - Butler junior Taylor Decker is a 6-8, and 275 pound highly recruitable two-way lineman. And he was all set to pursue a childhood dream of playing football at Ohio State University.

Then Notre Dame came calling.

In his words:

?I realized that football has a lot higher roof for me to be successful (than basketball).

?The only school that has offered me is Cincinnati. Northwestern said they?ll offer once I visit. Some other schools who said that they?re interested are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Virginia, pretty much a lot of the Big Ten.

?I always grew up being an Ohio State fan, but some of the visits to Notre Dame have just been amazing. I visited Michigan ? a lot of schools.

?My top three are Ohio State, Cincinnati and Notre Dame.?

Flyin' to the Hoop Classic recap - ESPN

A few of the athletes at the tournament could have the opportunity to choose between Division I basketball and FBS football. PF/C Taylor Decker (Vandalia,Ohio/Butler), PF Adolphus Washington (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taft) and Gary Harris are all excellent basketball players that are also being recruited to play at the highest level of college football. Decker is a top-flight offensive tackle said to be leaning towards Notre Dame (for football). Washington is a defensive stud that could play LB, DE or TE. Harris is a DB/WR prospect whose athletic ability is top-notch.
