OT Mike Adams (Official Thread)

Don't Adams, Long, Shugarts, and Sanders all project at tackle, since all are 6'6'' or taller?

Brewster's listed at 6'5'', so he could slide inside. But, will OSU take that many OT prospects in one year?

It wouldn't surprise me... Barton is gone after '07, and Boone will be a Sr. when these guys come in, as will Rehring. After that, we really have no true tackles on the roster.

These guys are all versatile enough to move anywhere on the line. We'd find places for them.

remember that height is not the only prerequisite for playing tackle at the next level...there are plenty of taller guards who lack the wingspan, hands and feet to be an effective tackle.

From what I have seen, Sanders and Long are more true tackles. I could see both Shugarts and Brewster sliding inside(in fact, I think Brewster is more of an interior OL anyways). I haven't seen film on Adams or seen him personally, so I'm not sure whether he could play interior OL or not.

I probably should have used "Do they project" instead of "Don't" as it was more of an interogotive.

no worries...I knew what you meant. I think RB07OSU is dead on. Brewster looks like a guard to me, and even more possibly a center. Shugarts could easily slide down to guard as well too. From what I have heard/seen, Adams and Long look like more "true tackles" given their athleticism and wingspan (Adams gets the nod on wingspan and hands...Long gets the nod for being more athletic). Not sure about Comeaux yet.

Comeaux looked like a guard to me. I think the only OL out of the top 5 that could only play 1 spot is Zebrie Sanders and he will play tackle. The rest can likely play inside or out, so just get them in and figure out where to put them later.

Two things. First off, Rehring is 6'8" and he may be playing guard this year. Secondly, when these guys first get in the program either Schoenhoft or Boeckman will be manning the controls. Both of those guys are 6'5" or more, so seeing over the line wouldn't be as critical as it would be with a shorter QB - Henton, which would happen later in their careers.

I'm pretty sure official written offers cannot be extended until NLOID of 2007. This year, Signing Day is on February 7th. Verbal offers can be extended and accepted at any time, but it is not a binding agreement for either side. If you will remember, Jamario O'Neal gave his verbal to Ohio State during his sophmore season (February 22nd of 2003 to be exact) but had to wait until Signing Day of 2005, which that year was on February 2nd, to make it official.
