Oversigning (capacity 25, everyone welcome! maybe)

3-star Darius Philon - who committed Sep 1 - was asked to grayshirt. TODAY.
Mike Herndon @ MikeHerndon_PR

Darius Philon has not signed. Teammate said # bama asked him to grey shirt.

Trying to get confirmation on whether Philon actually signed. Coach tells TV crew "he's real distraught."

Odd scene at Vigor. Philon leaves stage early, ducks media. Did not seem all smiles as you would expect. # bama

Auburn and Florida Offer 4 Year Scholarships

Most of you probably already heard about this, but many of the Big10 schools
gave out 4 year scholarships this year. In addition, two schools in the SEC
(Auburn and Florida), both of which did not oversign this year, also gave out 4
years scholarships. That is awesome! Florida has traditionally stayed away
from oversigning, but under Tommy Tuberville, Auburn signed and oversigned a
lot of players. That seems to be changing under coach Gene Chizik. It will be
interesting to see if other schools join Auburn and Florida. Vanderbilt and
Georgia are the first that come to mind.
This is definitely progress!

So... 5* WR Ricky Seals-Jones was the latest to pull the trigger for Texas A&M today, giving them a total of 34 COMMITTMENTS for their 2013 class... making him the 9th WR to join their class.

Welcome to the SEC, indeed.

Recruiting practices have become pretty sick in some schools. All schools should offer 4 year scholarships and you should only get dropped if you fail to perform at the minimum level in the classroom. Pretty shitty to offer a kid to come play, then give him the boot or ask him to grayshirt if you think his production on the field is less than another player you want to sign. No commitment to a kid.
