Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I think there's an argument that the conference needs more than just tOSU to be elite. And it def got us a bad rep a few years ago when nobody else could win a BCS bowl.

But it doesnt need to be scUM or NamblaU either. Fuck them. And yes, Nebraska lost their elite status shortly after BXII was formed.
For now Sparty is filling that role. We just have to beat them more consistently.

I'm mostly in the "fuck them" base. Mostly because fuck them, but also because fuck them. And thirdly because they need to get their own asses in gear and win some effin' games. I mean, it's MICHIGAN. 2/3 of the conference should be shitting in their pants before you even line up against them. And now you can't rightly claim to be the best team in that pathetic state? Penn State, if you want to be a premier team in the Big Ten, you need to beat out Wisconsin. When has any team in any sport needed to beat Wisconsin to become elite? And Nebraska, you're just another Iowa. Doesn't that make you sick? And Iowa, are you any better than Minnesota? Doesn't that make YOU sick, to be where Minnesota has called "home" for a couple of decades? And Minnesota.. where are you now? The worst might be Illinois, though. You don't need to be elite, but you should be able to go 0.500 consistently in conference. Instead, the worst Ohio State team in a decade walks in to your stadium and completes 1 pass, and still beats you!

I used to really want the conference to be good. But then 2014 happened, and the "fuck them" attitude really started. I'd really like a powerful conference that we continue to dominate. But if we can continue to let the rest of the conference squander the riches that have been given them, then I say that we can just bring the marshmallows and beers and have a pretty good time watching the rest of the conference burn down.

Nobody will ever be able to explain to me why they want other teams to do well. Especially cesspools like Penn State or [Mark May]bag fanbases like Michigan. Fuck them. Having the strongest conference is for the South Carolinas of the world to use as a crutch for when they fail, AGAIN, to ever do anything themselves. WELL WE'RE IN THE SEC SO IT'S HARDER. Who cares?

Sorry for interrupting the Penn State thread with a feel-good story, but PSU alum Todd Blackledge left his home in Canton this week and flew out to Salt Lake City just to visit Holly Rowe, who is battling cancer. Pretty cool gesture. I've always thought Blackledge was one of the good guys in broadcasting.

It is because he's from Ohio, not because he went to Penn State.

It was a solid thing to do though.

Once again, pretty much sums up my thoughts.

That was cool of him. I suppose he's one of the better guys, but I'll never forgive him for his "Taste of the Town" garbage. I don't care if he didn't choose to do it - get that crap out of my football.

One of my favorite broadcasters. No gimmicks, doesn't fawn over any one team from game to game, and clearly knows his shit. He was predicting several big plays in the Sugar Bowl against Bama.

I have to agree with about everything you've said here. Except for the Illinois part. I mean I can at least find humor in their situation. Purdue on the other hand is another story. I have no idea what they do with the BIG riches they receive. It's as if they just have no interest in competitive football or something. At one point they may have been able to compete in the BIGXII...I don't even think they could do that anymore.

Surprise, surprise!

LINK to the attached article:
One of Penn State's insurers has claimed "in 1976, a child allegedly reported to PSU's Head Coach Joseph Paterno that he (the child) was sexually molested by Sandusky."

The order also cites separate references in 1987 and 1988 in which unnamed assistant coaches witnessed inappropriate contact between Sandusky and unidentified children, and a 1988 case that was supposedly referred to Penn State's athletic director at the time.

But it is the Paterno allegation that is eye-popping, because of the unending national conversation and curiosity over how much the late and legendary Penn State coach may have known about Sandusky's actions during their lengthy careers.
