QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

You guys realize that urban is setting this up for the future, right? He's said repeatedly that braxton can still throw. Maybe not way down field, but probably with ease inside 20 yards. Either he won't have nraxton throw a single pass until msu since they most likely won't need to to win a game, and then against msu have braxton run the same play a few times, no pass. Then when/if the game is at a critical point late in the game? Braxton pass.

On the flip side, I wouldn't be stunned to see him break out the braxton pass soon to get it on film so that teams have to game plan for it. But if it were me I save that for a rainy day.
So nice of Urban to let us know how he's going to trick future opponents without letting those future opponents know. Boy won't they be fooled.

I wouldn't call it trying to trick an opponent. In the past he's done some things on the field just to make you have to game plan for it. Remember the swinging gate? We did it 2 or 3 times early in the season, just so teams had to at least think about it during practice. Him saying that braxton will eventually throw is similar. They at least need to game plan for it which is what he wants. He said in his radio show this week that they are close to being comfortable letting braxton throw in a game, and it may happen this game. My guess is that he will throw once or twice as soon as he can, and then maybe never again until a big game if needed.

The answer I heard to the question about Braxton throwing seems to contradict your statements here. He said in answer to the question that the risk of reinjury is real and the way he said it would infer the risk is not worth it. Reinjury would most likely knock Braxton out for the year and this is pretty much his last shot. We shall see.

At the end of the day I think there are too many mental errors on the field when Cardale is out there; more penalties. We try running option and unfortunately that is playing into a weakness of his. JT is more balanced and with the way we are struggling in multiple areas that is the best fit to get this team rolling again. We just don't have the deep threat to utilize Cardale correctly and we don't need to be airing the ball out when you have Zeke in the backfield. If you had Devin Smith split out wide, we could debate this more....unfortunately, Devin Smith is not walking thru that door!

Somehow I started swaying toward JT by the middle of camp and now I have been entrenched with JT since VT week.

No read option because Cardale can't run it. We are the read option and the read option is us. That should've been clue 1 imo that if you have to eliminate part of your playbook for someone then go in the opposite direction which in this case is JT.

In JT I trust. I've picked sides officially. Better poise and maturity.

This. JT seem to be much more even keeled and is able to not let his emotions get the best of him on the field. A good leader doesn't run up to a WR who makes a wrong read and call him out immediately. A good leader says something once gets back in the huddle and then goes about his business.

Except for almost all nfl quarterbacks when a wrong route is run.
