QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

I forgot that JT actually was an early enrollee last year. So mentally he's been here for 1.5 years, not 1 year. That does lead me to be at least a little more optimistic as from all indications he's a tireless worker, so I don't think he wasted that time when enrolling early. I'm sure he got all the mental reps and studied as much as possible.

I don't know what to think about losing Miller so close to the season opener. Any freshman QB suggests the potential for mistakes that could make this game more of a test than Buckeye fans would like to think. Buckeye deficits in the LB corps and secondary last year also raise some serious questions. Did the guys really step up? Are we back to DAVE-DAVE and some more DAVE? Can the cultural experiment in leadership really lead to mistake-free football from a very vanilla Ohio State offense that won't make up for a lot of errors on defense?

I like the Buckeyes on defense and think that someone puts their hand up in the backfield and Ohio State runs itself out of trouble in the first game. Not pretty but confidence building.

Buckeyes 27-17
