WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Has to be. If he can't make the roster with the Browns as a WR he's done in the US. I always thought he would be a good red zone jump ball WR. I don't see him catching balls over the middle, but if they can use his straight away speed and jumping ability he has a shot.

He only registered a 31" vertical at his NFL workouts so his leaping ability is average at best. The 6' 5" frame will help that a bit though.

Fast 40, but workout #s otherwise not impressive
Posted on: August 20, 2011 6:07 pm

I'm not sure what went faster today -- the 6-4 (3/8), 232 pound Terrelle Pryor in the forty yard dash or, the buzz around him in the seconds afterward, as scouts registered that sizzling time in their heads and word spread throughout the internet and texting community.

4.38-4.41 seconds is an accurate time for both.

However, as impressive as Pryor was in the straight-line speed portion of the workout, he was stunningly average in several other athletic portions of the event.

According to a league source, Pryor was timed at 4.3 seconds in the short-shuttle and 7.2 seconds in the three-cone drill

He also had a 31" vertical jump and a 10'4" broad jump.

The source characterized the results as "not that great of workout numbers for a supposedly great athlete."

Unfortunately the NFL doesn't have too many guys like Blake Gideon in coverage

Toughness over the middle was always the question mark with this position switch.

Still can't believe Pryor is officially banned from campus. Incredibly stupid and unfair ruling.
It's a temporary ban that was best for the program......that I personally believe Pryor signed off on. Not that OSU needed or even cared about his permission, but I think Pryor dove on a pretty big grenade for Ohio State football. He'll be welcomed back soon enough.

(unless I'm confusing his "ban" with Tressel's show cause)

So he pulls the pin and then dives on the grenade?

MAKING THE SWITCH: TERRELLE PRYOR'S UPHILL CLIMB TO BECOME AN NFL-CALIBER WIDEOUT

Josh Cribbs, Brian Mitchell, Antwaan Randle El and Denard Robinson – just four of the numerous former college quarterbacks who switched to a different position in the NFL.

Terrelle Pryor is attempting to do the same. Difference is, he's attempting the transition after four seasons playing QB exclusively.

The only similar comparison is Brad Smith, who played quarterback at Missouri and was listed as a running back, wide receiver and QB when the New York Jets drafted him in 2006. During the 2007 preseason, Smith played quarterback and head coach Eric Mangini put him on the depth chart at that position.

.
Believe it or not, Cleveland actually upgraded its receiving corps by signing Dwayne Bowe and former Buckeye Brian Hartline. Even with those additions and drafting Washington State's Vince Mayle, the Browns still have one of the least imposing group of receivers in the league. Pryor's chances of making an NFL roster at wideout may not be better elsewhere.

Terrelle Pryor to give 'slash player deal a chance' with Browns

Terrelle Pryor used the words "slash player" Tuesday to describe his role with the Cleveland, an interesting choice given the Browns were adamant he would work only at receiver when training camp opens next month.

Pryor hinted otherwise in an interview posted on Triblive.com.

"I'm going to give this slash player deal a chance," Pryor said.

That raises the possibility that the former Ohio State quarterback will be working at positions other than receiver for the Browns.

The "slash" role was developed by former Pittsburgh Steeler Kordell Stewart, who spent his pre-quarterback days as a receiver/quarterback/running back -- thus the slash designation.

"I just want to play football," Pryor told Trib Total Media. "I'm a playmaker, and I believe if I can touch the ball, I can go to the house, especially if I have space. This should definitely open up some opportunities."
