WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Raiders have special plans for Pryor
Posted Oct. 21, 2011
By Eli Kaberon

Two new quarterbacks joined the Raiders' roster this week, but with completely different roles and expectations. Veteran Carson Palmer, acquired in a trade from the Bengals, will step right in as the starter, the man most responsible for helping the team reach its goal of a playoff appearance. Rookie Terrelle Pryor, fresh off a suspension following his selection in the August supplemental draft, will also impact the team but in a very different role.

According to a team source, Pryor's snaps under center will be very limited. Having missed much of training camp and the first six weeks of the regular season, his familiarity with the playbook and his development as a quarterback are not where they need to be for the coaching staff to trust him with playing time at QB. Yet the rookie has a live arm, good mobility and great athleticism, which means head coach Hue Jackson will find a way to put him on the field.

We hear there are specific formations and plays in the Raiders' playbook that can utilize Pryor's skills. These include Pryor throwing, running and receiving, both lined up wide and at quarterback. A version of the "Wildcat," which would feature Pryor and RB Darren McFadden, is believed to be one of the ways Jackson will use the rookie, per our source.

Why waste your 3rd round on a supplemental draft if you're just bringing in Carson Palmer without even giving him a shot?

Cause they're the Raiders? Also it could turn out that Pryor was a pure Al Davis pick and if that's so he could of lost the majority of his support in the orginization when he passed.
are these serious posts? the guy is a rookie who wasn't even ready to be drafted this year.....and he hasn't been allowed to practice yet.

you think they're supposed to toss him into the starting lineup because of what they gave up to draft him?

I don't see what is so difficult....he could run Dave right, Dave left, Dave up the middle....

Pryor could make his debut for Raiders on Sunday
Posted by Mike Florio on October 22, 2011

Quarterback Kyle Boller reportedly will get the start for the Raiders on Sunday. Newcomer Carson Palmer reportedly won?t.

Lost in the shuffle is rookie Terrelle Pryor, the quarterback for whom the Raiders gave up a third-round pick in the 2012 draft, via the 2011 supplemental draft. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Raiders have installed specific packages for Pryor, who could make his debut against the Chiefs.

Pryor emerged less than two weeks ago from a five-game suspension. He was added to the active roster on Monday.

Pryor and the team repeatedly have said that he is a quarterback, and that he won?t be moved to a different position. Coach Hue Jackson said in August that Pryor would make his debut in the preseason finale, but Pryor didn?t play. He remains a long-term project at the position, and the arrival of Palmer likely has extended that timetable even deeper into the decade.

My question is they're worried about Palmer not being ready, they have injuries left and right.....I'm more trying to wonder why he's not getting ANY playtime as opposed to his role as a starter.

Cause everyone views Palmer as a viable, long term solution...

More like because Palmer's contract runs through 2014, his head coach recruited him to USC, and they gave up a shitload to acquire him.

we'll see more pyror REAL soon....

If you're suggesting he'll supplant Palmer at QB that assertion is extremely doubtful any time soon. Oakland gave up a ton for Palmer, his coach loves him and they own his contract through 2014. It's his team for the foreseeable future.
