WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Hopefully he can work his way up to #2 on the depth chart. I'm not sure if Russell is injury prone or not but the way he plays he could potentially miss games if he takes a bad hit.
1st, the ESPN commentary is hilarious. Hey, let's bring in a quarterback and see it we can get him to play another positions... maybe even defense. Works in college, doesn't work so well in the NFL. (I know, it has worked A FEW TIMES) If you want a receiver, there are enough great receivers that you don't need to bring in a quarterback to play receiver, or tight end, or defensive back. What a joke. It's like them saying to make Tebow a tight end for years... if a team wanted a tight end they would trade or draft.... A TIGHT END. It's not 17-18 year old kids that are developing, no NFL coach wants to waste energy and time teaching someone to play a completely new position, perhaps a similar position (RB to slot receiver, or Safety to LB), but not QB to DB or QB to WR. I have known very few QBs that can run routes better than NFL caliber wideouts. Another great example of ESPN commentary.

2nd, I know this has been said, but hard to make it in the league as a running QB unless you have the elite passing ability. He has a cannon of an arm and is an amazing athlete, but needs a great QB coach to get him up to the level of passing required in the NFL. He is close, but I don't think good enough right now. A great coach could bring him there, but I don't think he has ever been in the right position for it.

Lastly, Their current backup is probably going to be gone soon and isn't the same style as Russel Wilson. Pryor is much more similar and could potentially find himself as a long term backup to Wilson. This could result in some quality minutes and perhaps a showing that he can be a starter. Other than that, I think Oakland threw him out there, gave him a shot to start, and showed he's not there yet, at least not in their system with their coaches. There is a good chance Oakland doesn't have the best coaching staff in the league.

There was no reason whatsoever for Oakland to bench him for fucking McGloin. The guy finally earns the starting role and they fuck him up even more by sitting him behind that turd.

Well, lets be real here, it IS Oakland. The Raider ownership and head office has no clue how to build and run a successful NFL team.

Since 2003, they have started 18 different QBs. The quarterbacks they did start weren't in for just a few snaps here or there.
Hell in 09, Russell had 9 starts, Gradkowski had 4, and Charlie Frye had 3.

The organization is in shambles. They go through coaches and players quickly and never have any lessons learned.

But I always told myself there was hope because some day Al Davis would die. Can't I just hang all that on him and hope that going forward somebody with a brain will be there?

Said on the radio that if he makes the team he will be paid more than Wilson. Kinda shows the weirdness of the NFL pay disparity versus production.
The Seahawks resigned Tavaris Jackson to a 1-year deal this offseason, so Russel Wilson's salary actually is third out of the three QBs on the roster.

Pryor, Harvin, and Lynch seems like a good backfield ...

First.. I am truly a Pryor fan... and in the back of my mind, I always wondered how great of a receiver he would be.. matchup terror

but then I think... first time Terrell goes over the middle and takes a shot from Ed Reed or Patrick Willis.. could be the last.. Terrelle did not like to be hit.. he was phenom at running away from those hits.. but running INTO those hits... dunno

Talks about how Pryor would like to get back to OSU if allowed. His 5 year "ban" still has 2 years left, but unless there's legal ramifications (and by legal, I mean silly rules with the NCAA), I don't see why he shouldn't be able to come back. I mean Jim Tressel was carried off the field for goodness sake. Doesn't make much sense to me.

As he eludes to in the interview, the most unfortunate thing was him getting kicked out of school and losing all those game and practice reps. A 5 game suspension was one thing, but to be punished on top of that was unfair and it hurt him as he tried to prepare for the NFL.

Anyway, I have long since forgiven him for any mistakes he made and hope to see him back at the shoe sooner rather than later being deservedly celebrated for all the big games he won while at tOSU.

I totally 'get' handing the biggest name on the team as the fall guy (to help in the NCAA's eyes to be lenient with tOSU), and I agree that there has been no consistency with the other players. Everyone seems to be gone from tOSU except Gene Smith. Dunno whether he was the 'mouthpiece' for Gee, or he came up with this on his own. Pryor has served his time in purgatory, and tOSU should indeed commute his sentence to time served. Maybe have him give some talks to players about the 'risks' out there of people who want a piece of Buckeye players, or something along those lines for starters. The kids will believe one of their own before they believe their coaches/parents (Chapter 1 of child rearing). PS, a piece of memorabilia with Pryor's name on it means a heck of a lot more $ than a third string TE (insert reserve position here) to collectors, so there was a lot more pressure on Pryor to sell......It's all about the Benjamins.

Not talking about a ticker tape parade, but a quiet, under the table gesture back to one of our own. C'mon Gene, you can do this thing. (Your 'in' with the NCAA didn't pan out so well, did it? - you weren't penalized, were you?). Go Bucks

Five years? What a fucking joke.
It was worth it to brown nose the NCAA (you know, that organization that every major team in the country blatantly disregards and flaunts their success in doing so?) to get out of that bowl ban.
