RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

GOOD WEEK AT GLENOAK

As offseason weeks go, they don?t get much better than what GlenOak football head coach Scott Garcia had last week. First, on Tuesday voters in the Plain Local School District passed a levy that provides the district with new revenue for the first time since 1996.

Then Brionte Dunn showed up at GlenOak High School.

?You don?t get many weeks this time of year better than that,? Garcia said.

And if you don?t know who Brionte Dunn is, you?re going to be hearing a lot about him in the coming years.

Dunn transferred to GlenOak from Alliance High School. He got some playing time as a freshman for the Aviators. He?s probably going to be getting a lot more in the future.

Dunn is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound running back who is already on Ohio State?s radar, as well as most major colleges. FBS schools aren?t allowed to officially offer players scholarships until September of their senior year. Dunn did attend a Buckeye game last fall, though.

?It was a nice surprise,? Garcia said of Dunn?s arrival. I don?t know how good he?s gonna be, but it was a big surprise.

?He really does pass the eye test. He?s a big kid with a big frame on him. He?s going to have to get it done in the classroom and do all the right things and we?ll see what happens down the road.?

GlenOak didn?t lack for running backs last year, and the Golden Eagles used four on a relatively regular basis because of injuries and some playing defense.

?The last two years really have been unreal with the amount of running backs,? Garcia said. ?We have a bunch of tailbacks and they all play defense.?

Garcia said he didn?t know whether Dunn played defense, but he looked like he could be a linebacker.

If you want to get a better view of what Dunn looked like on the football field last year, head to Scouting Ohio to search for Dunn with a highlight video there.

Brionte Dunn, RB, GlenOak (Canton, Ohio)

At times last year, Brionte Dunn was a man against boys for Alliance. The 6-1, 225 pounder rushed for 450 yards, had over 100 receiving yards, and scored four touchdowns.

Dunn also played defense.

The versatile athlete spent time at outside line backer in addition to his duties rushing the ball. He?s an intelligent, physical player with strength and quickness beyond his years.

In the offseason, Dunn transferred from Alliance to GlenOak, where he?s expected to be a major factor.

After a mixed extra point, the Golden Eagles got the ball back and looked to go back to their bread and butter. Sophomore Brionte Dunn was invited to the Horseshoe last weekend to watch Ohio State take on USC and it?s easy to see why Jim Tressell and the Buckeyes have their eye on this blossoming superstar.

Racking up 105 yards on 15 carries in the 1st half Dunn wreaked havoc on the Jackson defense and added to Glen Oak?s lead with a 35-yard touchdown run.

Sophomore running back Brionte Dunn, who finished with 144 yards and a TD on 29 carries, found little room to run after leading GlenOak?s first scoring drive.

Dunn took control on GlenOak?s second possession, a 97-yard, 16-play drive. The big sophomore carried on nine of the plays for 71 of the 97 yards.

PERRY TWP. They started piling each other on before the game. They did jumping jacks in sync on every kickoff.
. . .
GlenOak banished the ghosts of 14 seasons past with one glorious team effort. A stagnant offense broke free for three Alex Meredith touchdown passes. Running backs Brionte Dunn and Collin Daniels-Mitchell both turned in 100-yard games. The Eagles defense sacked Perry quarterback Adam Offenberger six times and held the Panthers to 109 total yards.
. . .

Successive carries of 37, 9 and 24 yards by Dunn on the last series of the first half set up the Hearn score. Dunn, who finished with 146 rushing yards, then toted it four straight times for 26 yards to set up Garman?s third-quarter touchdown.

Scout $ - Is Dunn Ohio's Best For 2012?
Bill Greene of SuperPrep.com, Feb 26, 2010

Dunn wanted to step up in competition so he transferred to a division 1 school(largest schools) last season... He ended the season with 1300 yds rushing & 12 TDs... Wants to play both ways but not sure if his coach will let him... He likes OSU, Pitt, Penn State, USC, & Texas but says he has no favorites... Distance won't be a factor but academics & comfort will be... Sees himself as a power RB so he doesn't think he'd fit well in a spread offense...
