RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

Beast is right. I'm going to take the lazy analyst To task here, as he only talked about the great blocking. On each of those runs to the outside, Hyde sets up his blocker by making a quick movement to the inside. This keeps the contain defender honest and allows the blocker to seal him more easily. It's very subtle, but it's there.

My memory might be clouded by bias, but I thought he was a good RB in the NFL... but troubled by the same problem he had here: injuries.
Hopefully Hyde can keep himself healthy in the pros as he did in college. Still perplexed how he dropped that low in the draft.

The offensive line Beanie ran behind in Arizona was horrible if I remember correctly. That being said, I was still disappointed in his NFL career. I thought he could've been a very good back in the league.

It's preseason, but Hyde running behind that particular offensive line is a match made in heaven and should be fun to watch for years to come. Gore isn't going to be around much longer.

Gore won't be around, but Marcus Lattimore and Lamichael James will be. San Fran will be a committee at RB for the foreseeable future. Carlos has the talent to set himself apart as the starter though b

Lattimore's not a sure thing. I don't think James will ever be more than a gadget back and return man. If Hyde shows well spelling Gore this season, I think the job is his.

I don't see James as more than a utility back. Use him in special packages kind if player. Lattimore could be very good, but hasn't played a game in two years.

Hyde is the clear future back in my opinion. I say that as a Niners fan. The Buckeye in me hopes it's correct.

Unless you have loyalties to Seattle.
Please leave SanFran, Carlos!!

Enjoying the SFvSD game right now. First half is over and Hyde has 6 carries for 38 yards with one run of 20 yards. Here at end the of the half they went more with LaMicheal James, who is 6 carries for 7 yards. Strange thing is they are running both up the middle most of the time. I thought Hyde would be more of the up the middle guy and James would be keeping more to the perimeter to take advantage of his open field speed and elusiveness. The difference seems to be if the play is a run up the middle James runs where he's supposed to go and get's what he can (almost every run is less than 2 yards), whereas with Hyde when the opening isn't there, Hyde bounces out to the first open gap he sees. Great vision, lack of speed keeps him from being the home run threat of James, but if he keeps pounding away like he did for us he has a great shot at starting the season as the #1 guy.
