RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

I specifically remember Duane Long saying Carlos would never be an Ohio State caliber runningback here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

This is from Duane's blog in Feb. 2010:

We got skill players. I don't think anyone has a better back class. We get the #1 back in the country on my board in Rod Smith. Carlos Hyde would have played a good deal last year. He reminds me of Keith Byars. What makes a back his size a running back is the feet. Hyde has feet that a 200 lb back would love to have.

I don't think this is the only place that he's praised Hyde. There was another article talking about how Hyde is not going to be a FB but rather a TB because he had excellent feet.

Thanks for the link. I think I was remembering him saying something about he wouldn't want Carlos here if he were to take a year off of football, as you recall he didn't initially qualify or something. But then he ended up at Fork Union and it was all good. Thanks!

No worries. He said that going to Fork Union was a good choice b/c Hyde would still play that year.

It'll be an interesting committee approach next year. Hyde should start, but hall will get carries and also get to be moved around. And we still have smith with another year in the system, not to mention Dunn, who I believe will be ahead of smith, but also ball getting off his redshift year and Elliott coming! Lets not forget Braxton will get carries, along with Philly and maybe jalin Marshall. Its a good problem for the staff to deal with so much talent that can tote the rock. But Hyde has earned being the primary ball carrier

I could see Carlos being the same type of leader on the team next year that Simon and Boren were this year. He appears to be that type of warrior. We will need it, and I look forward to him taking it to the next level. Dude is a beast now. If he continues to develop at the current rate, he could be a legend.
