Seeing as they plan on releasing the video to the public, this is far from over. People who want Hyde to play, will see what they want to see, people who hate the Buckeyes, or don't want Hyde to play, will see what they want to see. If the media couldn't get their story straight after seeing the video, I doubt this will make it any better.

I'm no lawyer, but the CPD can still make charges if they catch the person in the act of wrongdoing.

Of course, no CPD was there at the scene, but that video can still incriminate Hyde. None of us have seen the video but from what I have heard, the quality is terrible (based on the fact that two different reporters watched the same video and came to two very different conclusions).

And yes, Meyer too.

and the fact that CPD didn't charge him and waited for the accuser to decide to press charges shows that CPD was never going to charge him unless the victim insisted on doing so.

She filed the report (we think, didn't she?). So, I'd say she pressed a charge... now, if she's not going to continue to be an active participant or agree to testify certainly makes it more difficult to prosecute, but, if "pressing charges" were required, Thump could go around filling his trunk withe dead orpahn hookers to his hearts content.

I'm sure Urban wants to keep this guy on the team, but I bet he wishes it was a little more cut and dry. Charges would equal suspension until resolution. If the video showed no contact, that would equal something between no action to a 1 game suspension for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

No charges lessens the potential punishment, but Hyde evidently hit/slapped the girl - and now the spotlight will be on what Urban does. No matter what he does, it will not sate the OSU/Urban haters out there -who are legion.

Apples and oranges. In one case, you have an individual who is making a claim of a crime committed against her, whereas the Thump case the person who otherwise press charges is dead in a trunk.

No... its the same thing... someone was attacked, they don't need her to prosecute him, it just makes it a heck of a lot easier if the victim cooperates.
