RB Roderick Smith (Official Thread)

Gotta admit. Seeing this kid's size, just gets me thinking of Eddie all over again. With the line that we have pulled in the last couple of years, this kid could run like crazy over the Big Ten. If I had to have a top three on offense it would be Smith, Henderson, and Montana. Man I hope this kid becomes a Buckeye:osu3:

I could be way off, but this one feels Devon Torrence's recruitment from a few years back. I would not be surprised to find out at some future date that Smith is a silent currently and is either taking some trips or building his offer sheet.

There may be several reasons. 1 He may have a Conditional offer (i.e.if another recruit declines) 2. Waiting on test scores 3. Silent verbal 4. His core academics still need some work 5. Wants to visit again before making his decision.

He looks really good. I can see the Eddie George comparison. He gets through the hole really quick, north-south but has a little bit of elusiveness too. No crazy Reggie Bush type moves, but he does a nice quick change of direction without losing speed. Definitely looks like he deserves to be a high 4 star type of RB.

His film is good.. He has, what looks like very good burst and speed for a guy his size. Shows some nice ability to cut on the dime and accelerate out of his cuts.

I don't really see the Eddie George stuff. Eddie had a unique running style where it looked like he was gliding out there. Smith looks like he's running alot harder, kinda like Beanie.

The one thing I didn't see, which I thought I would given the hype, was the ability to run over and through people. In these clips he's basically cutting and breaking long runs (some for TDs). There isn't much inside running, running over people, stiff arming guys, dragging piles, or lowering the pads and delivering blows to the defenders.

Those who can watch the film, what do ya think? I've heard nothing but good things about this kid. I'm ready for the BPRT to chime in
Two words, one name all due respect to Buckeyecty4: Eddie George. He has the same upright running style, good speed and burst and is strong as a bull. The competition may be suspect, but he's truly a man among boys. I also see a tad of MoC in his film (the good stuff).

This kid is about to blow up big time. Definately a top-5 back IMO. Best part, it appears he's all Buckeye.
